My not buy the phone outright from Apple and go on a cheaper provider like Fido?

Purchase a 128GB around $1000 but my plan is only $50/month with fido. 2GB of data, unlimited Canada wide calling, VM, Caller ID who called all included. Basically when I extended my contract earlier this year I was able to keep the same package only paid around $60lishf or the S4. Sold the S4 and made some money.

because I didn't want to spend $1000 on a phone I basically got for free

With bell its 4gb data, unlimited Canada wide calling and texting for $110 a month. A bit more money but for my phone ended up costing $155 with tax and she gave me a free otter box case and wireless Bluetooth speaker I'm pretty happy with it.

Your pre-existing plan with Rogers would've stayed at $77/month once the contract expires.

I'm assuming this is on a 2 year contract

$33 (plan increase) x 24 months = $792
Phone = $155 x 12% tax = $173.60
Total = $965.60

Personally, I would've just bought the phone outright and stayed on the cheaper plan, because once the price of your plan goes up, it's very rare that you'll be able to get it back down.

shouldn't have updated to 8.1.2 ... causing massive battery drain compared to before :(

Mine seems fine using Iphone 6.

In most cases it's better to buy the phone unlocked from Apple. If you do the numbers and it comes out the same as getting a wicked deal on the handset and paying a rate increase for 24 months then it's up to you... Pay lump sum upfront or an extra $30-40 a month... That's how the carriers get us coming back, lots would rather loose money slow rather than all in one shot.

skholla 12-20-2014 08:13 PM

I was in a similar position, on a corporate plan $50 a month with iPhone 5s but wanted to do an early upgrade to iPhone 6 plus. Had to switch to $60 plan to qualify (so I'm paying an extra $240 over 24 months), got the handset for $485 but was dinged $326 for flex tab balance. Whether going with early upgrade or buying unlocked I was going to be out $1200 after taxes... But I was able to get a $200 renewal credit that made the decision easy.

Here is a pretty good break down on the cost

What?s Cheaper? Unlocked iPhone 6 Prices vs Contracts Compared | iPhone in Canada Blog - Canada's #1 iPhone Resource

Basically the carriers finance the phone for you at about 10% interest rate.

just got my 6 plus. this thing is lightyears better than my 4s. WHY DIDNT I BUY DIS EARLIER

320icar 12-22-2014 07:14 PM

Just retired my white 4s and picked up a white/silver iPhone 6. This thing is awesome.

So are there any snes emulators for iPhones that won't ever get jail broken? I know I have snes9x on my old tablet but I never use that thing. I'd be willing to pay for a good emulator

Anyone have tempered glass? Looking for a recommendation that also allows for a case to be used.

Any tempered glass with work with most case because it won't cover the full screen. This is due to the 2.5d design of the iphone 6 and 6L.

Is there an air gap?

skholla 12-29-2014 09:18 PM

No bubbles or gaps in the main body of the protector. I installed on 2 phones, on one it's perfect, the other has a couple mm around the outter edge where it doesn't look like its glued down.

Given that I expect to use both tempered glass and also a case (example: http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00M3Q4IFC/r...BT0PR1HJ&psc=1), where there still be an issue with dust getting under the tempered glass?

skholla 01-13-2015 07:16 PM

I've had mine for about a month and no dust or debris under the glass. They all use a silicone based adhesive, on mine with the gap it seems like 1-2mm around the edges there is no adhesive. Glass is secure, no enough clearance to fit my finger nail, no dust lint or hair. I could get a replacement under warranty from Tech Armor but it doesn't really bother me. IMHO screen protector free is the way to go but that doesn't work with kids. Tempered glass has better visibility and feeling over film based protectors.

Expect to get dust and stuff under the case though... The tech Armor case is nice, "scratch proof" plastic on the back and rubber around the edges for cushion.

Why am I getting so frustrated trying to merge multiple songs/albums into one single album in iTunes 12 on Windows 8? Seriously, I really dislike the complexity of iTunes compared to the Android system but I like to use the iPhone.:fulloffuck:

anyone on WIND with iphone 6?

want to be a trooper and try this and report back?

How to activate iMessage and FaceTime on an iPhone running on the Wind Mobile network | Dexter Brown [The Blog]

MTV Cribs 01-18-2015 11:01 AM

It works. I did that on my iPhone 5 and now iPhone 6. I have iMessage working with phone number on Wind for over a year now. Sometimes it takes me 1 try and 5 minutes and sometimes it could take 10 tries and 60 minutes. But eventually it works.

When buying an iPhone second hand, what should I do? Bringing the seller and the phone to the Apple store to check that it's unlocked? Is there a way to prevent the seller from blocking the phone from his carrier?

That's a good idea but the guys at apple won't tell you if the phone is damage or is it on the IEMI block list. Make sure they disable find my iphone on the phone otherwise the phone is still attach to their acct. So check that on the phone itself.

Other than the IEMI block list website which takes some time to update as well, is there a way to prevent the seller from blocking it after selling it to me?
