actually 2011's Galaxy Nexus have almost identical specs minus 64-bit/8MP camera/LTE

still, specs isn't the end-all and be-all

Little surprised by the A8 only being 25% faster. On the one hand, Apple has been doubling performance each year so people probably expected them to double it again this year. On the other hand, even the A7 is still faster on 99% of Apps than anything else out there so Apple might have decided to wait for the A9 before making another huge jump in architecture/performance.

Or they could have spent their resources on the new S1 SoC for their Watch and scaled back.

Still wondering why the A8 has 2 billion transistors while the A7 only had 1 billion. What are they using the extras for?

GabAlmighty 09-09-2014 03:02 PM

Gonna be picking one up out of contract.

murd0c 09-09-2014 03:09 PM

What are the contract prices?

there was a free replacement of the iphone 5 battery if your phone was part of the bad batch they listed out. i forget which website you can you see if your phone is eligible for a free replacement.

or you can always spend $80-$100 for a mophie case in the mean time.

edit: oops, didn't realize there was another page. my bad.

Really? While it looks nice, to be honest I don't really see it offering me enough to make me want to strap something to my wrist again.

They will verify that you need one and then order it in, that is what they did at the coquitlan center location anyway. Then I got an email a few days later that it was in. Took 15 - 20 min day of to do the swap.

To compare.. samsung galaxy s5 is 699.95 off contract same as the htc one m8.. not that different from other flagship phones.

At least the iphone has feels a lot more solid than a few pieces of plastic like the s5..

Oh, I'm not saying Apple's competitors are any better. It's more their pricing when it comes to memory space. Flash memory is dirt cheap now. Since Apple eschews microSD slots, why not set a trend by offering their base model with 32gb's instead of 16? $200 is a huge price jump for memory space. I know it's how they've always done it, especially with their iPads, but it's just infuriating.

On another note, the iP6 design reminds me of my old 3G :lol

if that is true, then its not surprising nor is it that expensive if you think about it.

iphones usually retail at the 800 dollar mark or 900 dollar mark? for every step up in memory, its an additional 100 bucks usually.

since they skip the 32gb step, 100$ more for the 64gb from the 16gb is decent.

on the older phones (iphone 4/4s, iphone 5/5s) i believe the 32gb model was available and it was 100$ more than the 16gb model.

all that said, i'm not saying the phones are cheap, they are still relatively expensive but the iphone6 16gb model is comparable in price to the s5 off contract.

murd0c 09-09-2014 05:49 PM

so what is the contract pricing then?
