So with pre order being on the 12th will we get the phone on the 19th or will you be able to go in store on the 19th and just buy one outright? Not sure how it all works...

Hondaracer 09-10-2014 08:17 AM

Look on CL and price according to condition

Typically I can always sell my phone for at least the HUP price

Just checked with a buddy that works for Apple
Laptop you have a year to get apple care
iPhone was within 30 days now its within 60 days

forgot to ask which category ipad falls under

Apple care all the way I wish I got it when I got my phone. Now that my 5 is out of warranty and all fucked up I can still get it swapped but it will cost $269 (then I will sell it as a brand new phone). Apple will still swap beat out-of-warranty iPhones as long as they are not "collateral damage". So if you want to get rid of your old phone but its not in selling condition this might be a good option for you.

final tip: if you get your phone swapped out and selling it as brand new unopened in box people might get suspicious because of the "protectyour rivacy" imei blacklist bullshit. I got fucked on my nexus 4 that way - it worked for a couple months then the bitch stopped paying her contract and it got blacklisted. So I guess be prepared to convince people that the phone is fully paid for and not on a agreement. I think being transparent with the buyer it will help you sell the product.

And most importantly do all your due diligence when buying a used phone cuz theres nothing worse than having it stop working out of the blue, trying to find out why, finally learning its a stolen/flagged paperweight, and lookin on craigslist for a hitman

AppleCare+ for iPhone - Apple Store (Canada)

How to get AppleCare+
Add it to your shopping cart during the checkout process when you purchase your new iPhone.
Buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase.

That's American pricing. None of the Canadian carriers have announced theirs yet. Should come shorty.
Expect it to be couple bucks more. As reference, last year's 16GB 5S started at $229 for 2yr contracts.

Remember, your monthly plan must be $80++. For most people, you might as well just buy the phone straight out unlocked.

Nabatron 09-10-2014 12:47 PM

I'm just hoping u can walk in next Friday and get one without being sold out in the first few hours or some shit

threezero 09-10-2014 12:48 PM

^ from past experience, not likely on a numerical iupdate. most likely little to no stock in store.

Can you help register a UDID so we can use the beta?

Does not apply to all situations, with certain carriers, using Fido as an example, as long as you are on one of their Max Plans, doesn't necessarily have to be one of their current Max Plan offerings, with some negotiating it's possible to keep your old Max Plan with a new phone and get full subsidized pricing.

For example, I've dealt with situations where Fido waived a particular case and let the customer keep their old plan with much better data, and get full subsidized pricing.

Do not quote me on this however. It is different for every case.

Speaking from plenty of first-hand experience.

Thanks. I don't have any first hand experience, nor do I plan to get an iPhone6 :D ...but from what I'm reading, Rogers isn't butching anymore. Apparently all carriers will try to get you on a $80+ plan if you want to upgrade now...

Nabatron 09-10-2014 02:26 PM

another question for you guys is if you go into apple store and do and upgrade under any such carrier will your phone be locked to the carrier? Or all the phones bought at the apple store unlocked and not carrier specific?

I bet the 16 gb will be available.

Last time when the 5 came out, I got the 16gb on the 5th day.

But you know for sure Apple is going to make sure they are sold out for the first week and keep the fans crazy about it.

Hondaracer 09-10-2014 03:34 PM

uhg.. have $150 left on my 5 for the HUP

really dont feel like phoning in and arguging to have it waived.. i've had it waived however my last 2 HUP's and i'm actually tempted to go all the way to even cancelling my phone as i've got a work phone i can just buy a micro sim for hmm..

if ur not paying full retail then ur phone will be locked for sure, be it a hardware upgrade or getting a new contract/plan, as long as the price of the phone is subsidized in anyway, else everyones gonna just walk into an apple store do an upgrade and get an unlocked phone.

Nabatron 09-10-2014 08:21 PM

Well shit thought all apple phones from apple store would be all unlocked even if you upgrade on contract oh well way she goes...tuff dishing out close to a G on a phone but if you got the money then by all means!

steinfeld 09-10-2014 09:12 PM

So I probably can't sign a new contract to get the Iphone 6 while keeping my awesome 6gb $55 plan through retentions?

Which iphone 6 are you guys interested in? I think 4.7" is the perfect size being able to fit in your front pocket comfortably. Apparently The 5.5" is bigger than the note 3 and thats already gargantuan.

Sir_Loin 09-10-2014 09:20 PM

My contract expires in Oct, gonna wait to have both 6/6+ in hand before deciding. The cutouts for printing are a good indicator of the size but there's no weight.

Nabatron 09-10-2014 09:32 PM

I'm probably going to get the 4.7 inch phone since 5.5 is pretty large and don't want such a huge phone...I have a nexus 5 right now and it has 5inch display and it's a little bit tuff one handed use. I'm thinking 4.7 inch would be just right for one handed use but apple does have that feature when you double tap the hole button to cut the scree in half for one handed use..

jack3d 09-11-2014 12:26 AM

is it true you needa be on a $80 plan to get the iphone on contract? is this for rogers? do they still have early hardware upgrade?

Hondaracer 09-11-2014 05:36 AM

Where can I find that print out size thing?

steinfeld 09-11-2014 06:51 AM

Printouts for size comparison

that's my problem as well, I want to keep my 6gb data package but with an upgrade they won't allow it.

I believe it is $70 for consumers and $60 for business clients.
