One of my friends still works for Shaw, another recently left for a better job at a pulp and paper mill. He worked at Shaw for around 5-6 years.
I interviewed there years and years ago, but turned them down because of pay decrease and hours relative to my job at the time.
Interview was pretty standard. Where have you worked, what did you do there, what did you enjoy, what did you dislike, why do you want to work for Shaw, what is your greatest strength, greatest weakness, etc.
Don't say anything negative about past employers or anyone really. Both friends told me it's a huge red flag for Shaw.
I don't have personal experience, but my friends have worked there for a long time, so I can relay the experiences they've told me. Hours are shitty in the call centres dealing with customers, but are better if you get out of the call centre (exception: assisting field techs over the phone). Pay is mediocre unless you get into the field.
My friend who left was still in the call centre and left for more pay and better hours. He just had his second child, so both of those were important (the mill is also closer to home, so less driving).
The one who is still with Shaw is a field assistant. He receives calls from field techs and gives them relevant info over the phone. He says it's pretty lax and the pay is decent but not spectacular (won't tell me exact $$$, but he can afford to live in downtown Vancouver with a decent car, so it must be okay). He works regular weekday daytime hours only.
