Minimum wage or close to it. If you have detailing experience maybe 15 or a bit more

you wash cars, do inventory checks, wash cars, move them around the lot, wash them again
sometimes different dealerships have different criteria's for the lot attendant, but ultimately you wash cars.

I started as a lot attendant at Jaguar Land rover of Richmond, the pay was close to minimum wage. You were paid fair for the work you did.. It was fairly relaxed.
Overall a great summer job for young guys to get some experience in working environments.

I'm getting a bit more than min wage ATM with no experience in the field. Environment here is very relaxed and its just as the job description says...wash cars, drive cars... There is also a high chance of overtime work due to the nature of the business

By "wash cars", how many of you are actually washing by hand?
As a lot of the major dealerships have automated car wash now.

You wash cars and wash more cars. you'll be begging to get out and drive cars because of how boring it is LOL. When i was a lot guy we were doing 60-80 cars a day with 3-4 guys it was insane. Typically thats how it is for the service lot guys. Sales lot attendants usually attend to more detail and less volume and are more orientated in keeping the lot and inventory clean and organized.
If youre looking to get into the shop, you have to work for service. I would have went for the sales department in a heartbeat back when i was doing it if i wasnt interested in getting into the shop

it really comes down to the dealership
when i worked at Wolfe Subaru it was a 1 man show, i did everything and there was no help because at the time it was a small dealership
when it went through renos i moved next door to Langley Chrysler which is a store with over 400 cars on the lot. so it was alot more relaxed because there was other lot guys but because it was a larger store i had chance to move up from lot guy to detailer. and then from detailer i went into the internet marketing for the dealership
we recently purchased the gold key vw store and i got promoted to lot/detail manager for those guys, luckily for me their detail/lot department dosnt fck around. if its service wash anything with nice or dark paint gets a hand mitt wash. every detail gets full polish (not just a wash n some tire shine)
anyways point is.. every dealership will be different. based on how you work and where you work there is plenty of room to learn and move up. so this summer job may turn into something a little more serious
as goes for wages, for subaru i was at 12 an hour. then chrysler i was at 14 i think until i started the internet marketing where i was put on a salary that works out to about 19 an hour and my recent promotion has alot more responsibility but is the same wage for now until more is put on my plate
