Great, another opportunity to draft a player in the 1st round that doesn't improve the team as a whole.

Armind 01-02-2015 09:21 AM

Miller for Luongo. :troll:

6o4__boi 01-02-2015 09:22 AM

Probably Bieksa for anyone who can actually play defense
and Stanton (or Both) for someone from Florida
semisrs

getting top six help from a trade is pretty much impossible unless we part with a prospect/pick but that would be a stupid move.

shitty thing is, i honestly don't think anyone on this team is worth anything in the trade market except maybe for Tanev but i wouldn't trade him. Lack might be worth something since we've got good goalies in our cupboards if he ever goes. Only reason teams are interested in Kassian is because they think they can get him for nothing. I wouldn't mind if he gets traded though. He's never fit in well and probably never will.

68style 01-02-2015 09:28 AM

Kassian is super frustrating because there's always that chance if we trade him, that he will become to us what Bertuzzi became to the Islanders.........

On the other hand, I just don't see him getting any better no matter what role they give him. He came here with a lot of question marks on the mental side of things as well as work ethic... the mental side seems to have improved a bit, he says the right things... but you see him in interviews and he says he's not good enough, but do you hear any conviction in his voice? I don't... sounds like he is saying rehearsed things. Sometimes guys just don't care if they're good or not, they're just happy to get a free ride in the NHL. His major concern at this point if that is in fact where he sits with himself should be that he might not be in the NHL much longer haha

That said, it's so freaking difficult to find a power forward type player in the NHL that guys with Kassian's skillset get every opportunity and then some. Steve Bernier is a perfect example of a player benefitting from that, how many teams have tried to make him what he was supposed to be now? Still got a job.

Nabatron 01-02-2015 09:56 AM

I wouldnt say Kassian is like Bernier but I know what your saying...The thing with Kassian is they dont put him in positions to succeed ie with players he could play with. When he did get a chance with the sedins you guys could see what he could become. The problem is with management and with our youngs guys. For example if they could be playing great the whole game and boom them make a defensive mistake, they either ride the pine or get dropped to the 4th line. How are young guys ever going to learn and succeed in the league if they are not giving a chance. IE jensen, kass, even horvat I rather give Horvat a shot on the second line since Bonino has been invisable the last 10 games or so. I read that hes only got one goal in the last 22 games dafuq?

Hondaracer 01-02-2015 10:04 AM

As I said a while back, I know a guy who works with Linden basically on a weekly If not daily basis. This guy said Trevor has a huge hate on for Kassian and basically wants him gone. Ever since I heard that everything in the way he's been treated and the way the media has talked about it (completely unfounded imo) seems to line up with that perfectly.

Nabatron 01-02-2015 10:19 AM

wow eh! thats some insder shit right there! Was there a reason for not liking Kassian? Seems abit weird an un Linden like to try and get rid of a promissing young guy..

Mike Oxbig 01-02-2015 10:25 AM

Maybe cause Kassian brings thug (boston bruin style) hockey to the Canucks organization and they are currently trying to clean up their act. That's why rumors have Bruins being interested since they play thug hockey/ trying to clear cap space.

Hondaracer 01-02-2015 10:26 AM

Apparently it was from an attitude/off ice stuff

However, how much of a sample size could Trevor possibly be privy to? Like 8 months of getting to know a guy and you just want him out?

Trevor wants small hipsters who like cycling but are "character" guys :/ lol

6o4__boi 01-02-2015 10:27 AM

pretty sure the whole team doesn't like Kassian...guy must be an ass off-camera and off-ice cus its the 3rd coach and he has yet to develop any chemistry on any line or any trust from any coaches

if he ever becomes a Bertuzzi like player, it won't be here. Guaranteed.

Mike Oxbig 01-02-2015 10:29 AM

Gotta be Eriksson coming back if its the Bruins, cap dump

Nabatron 01-02-2015 10:30 AM

If we did ship Kassian out who would it be for...I wouldnt want to just ship the guy out would Loui Erikson as speculated.

Nabatron 01-02-2015 10:31 AM

If we are trying to get younger Loui isnt the right fit plus the guy is concussion prone

Mike Oxbig 01-02-2015 10:33 AM

Kassian/Hansen + Loui/Krug as it was rumored and suggested on HFboards

Nabatron 01-02-2015 10:35 AM

^pass on that deal

6o4__boi 01-02-2015 10:40 AM

Krug might be putting up points with the bruins but its cus he's shielded pretty well

5'9, 180 lbs dman with the canucks? :heckno:
he'd get destroyed by the Pacific teams

That said i might actually do this deal LOL

radioman 01-02-2015 10:56 AM

I heard some rumours that hes still growing. Projected 6'2

PiuYi 01-02-2015 12:03 PM

watching ryan stanton last night made me cringe

i'd rather give his minutes to corrado at this point, try that out for a few games

murd0c 01-02-2015 12:38 PM

all I know is I have full faith in what Benning wants and what he's going to do. He seems like he can take his time in making a deal but can always make moves quickly if needed. He has a plan and I'm sure he will get the players he has an eye on

I don't think it was Stanton's fault at all, both goals I saw, Bieksa was coming over to Stanton's side to check the same guy as him instead of playing his side and, oh, I don't know... being on Stoll while he's slapping home the winner? lol

It was embarrassing watching him shoot the puck at the boards in anger and then tripping over the net after that goal though.

If anyone comes out for another d-man, it's going to be Weber before Stanton... can pretty much guarantee that. Not saying I agree with it... but it's pretty clear what the pecking order is haha

6o4__boi 01-02-2015 01:06 PM

damn US is out of the WJC already.
Was expecting more from them.
Anyone watching the Fin/Swe game?

murd0c 01-02-2015 01:11 PM

It makes me feel good when the US is knocked out early in any sport!!

6o4__boi 01-02-2015 01:18 PM

I wanted them to beat Russia just cus Thatcher Demko was their starter.
Would've loved to see them in the semi's or finals.

Gustav Forsling is looking good for Sweden

fliptuner 01-02-2015 04:37 PM

WJC 2-0 but Fabri might've fucked up his knee.

murd0c 01-02-2015 04:41 PM

So Seisto has been put on waivers
