Second page woo hoo!
This season looks promising under Linden and Benning.
I'm hoping that Benning drafts a good player AND pulls off a Kesler trade at the draft. Some good news at the draft for once compared to the shit show last year in Jersey.

So it looks like the NYR are going to use the buyout on Brad Richards

NYR would have to be crazy not to he actually played fairly well until the finals and had a decent regular season but he is not worth 6.6M for another 5 years, if he is willing to sign somewhere for a decent price I'm sure a lot of teams would be interested in him
Now who the Rangers designate as their captain this season?
IMO Girardi, Staal, St Louis could all be a captain maybe even McDonagh but the 3 mentioned before I think would be a better fit

I say St Louis
dont think anyone in that locker room would feel comfortable taking it over an established vet like st louis. and also considering the amount of respect he gets there
his level of play and heart is so consistent. that is respected as well

St Louis is only there for one more year.
The C will go to one of their younger long-term players. Like mentioned already, my bet is McDonagh.

true in that hes only there for a year, maybe he may even get another extension if he can hack it. but i dont see them giving it to McDonagh over St Louis while he is still there
McDonagh or the other younger players would be prime to get it once St Louis has retired or signed elsewhere

Like mentioned already, my bet is McDonagh. | I was thinking that Girardi is the most likely to receive the C as he has been part of their farm team and than the big club since being passed on in the 03 draft and being signed as a free agent to the Hartford Whalers
He has also been an assistant captain and leadership guy when Staal was concussed/eye injury, Girardi just last year signed a 6 year contract that start's this next season and will keep him in NY for the foreseeable future so long as is he is not traded
If McDonagh doesn't get an A this year he might next year as Staal and St Louis are both UFA's next year and who knows how that will pan out if they are going to stay or go, anything could happen NYR pretty much lost their captain this season (Callahan) because of the crazy amount of money he wanted for his next contract

If we can convince him to sign for league minimum he wouldn't be a bad 3/4 line center for us.
Flashback: We almost traded for him when he was playing for lightning under Nonis regime.
I would take the gamble if it doesnt work out can just send him down to utica or waivers

would be fun to have them differentiate Brad Richards and Brad Richardson

No to Brad Richards. Jesus, another old useless expensive player.
Canucks won't win without getting rid of 60% of its roster.
