Bob McKenzie is saying Florida might be trading for a goalie.
Yes, trades are allowed post "trade deadline". All the trade deadline is is the deadline to set your players eligible for the playoffs, so if you trade for a player after the deadline, he isn't eligible to play in the playoffs.
^holyshit haven't heard of this before....I wonder what team has down this before?

It's happened a bunch of times, mostly with NHL teams trading AHLers and prospects, so no one typically pays attention. It happened to Linden once, Montreal traded him after the trade deadline, neither Montreal or NYI were making the playoffs, so neither were concerned about playoff eligibility of the players.
1999-May-29 Traded from New York Islanders to Montreal Canadiens for round 1 pick in the 1999 draft (Branislav Mezei)
Yea the trade deadline isn't a trade deadline, more a playoff roster deadline.
What would happen if either goalie was still hurt, could the goalie they traded for after the deadline still play??
No, Florida would then have to use one of their goalies they have signed to an existing contract prior to the "trade deadline" for the playoffs.
So in this case, if Florida say traded for Reimer now and made the playoffs, and Luongo and Montoya were still injured, Florida would have to play Dan Ellis who is with their AHL club or another goalie they had under contract prior to the "trade deadline". Reimer would not be allowed to play.
