The fact was that even the shitty canucks last season wrecked the flames. No one would be able to predict that the flames are OP this year
Yes, most "analysts" wrote them off, but most diehard fans knew what was coming up in the cupboards. Plus the fact that last year, the flames had the most 1 goal game losses out of any team in the nhl, which means that it could have easily gone the other way. Gio with an injury off the bat.
Most knowledgeable flame fans, knew they would be a playoff contender this year, me included.
do i think they will be a cup contender, no. (though i am open to the idea of Cinderella surprises)
but i had no doubt they would be in a solid fight for a playoff berth, definately not a basement team.
flames wont be a cup contender for another couple of years.

I call BS.
The vast majority of Flames fans thought the team would be just as bad as last year, or at most marginally better. I would venture to say that the people that honestly thought the Flames were a playoff team before the season started are of the delusional type.
Yeah, there's no denying the Flames are doing WAY better than anyone thought they would, but to say knowledgeable Flames fans knew they would be a playoff contender before the season started is BS.
I still say a majority of fans new this year was going to be way brighter. Of course there are those doom and gloom fans out there. But most of them knew this year was the turning point
I guarrantee the amount of fans that thought we were going to be in the 20's in the league are a very small amount

I thought Flames would be a better team (way better than Edmonton) this year after they signed Hiller. Getting a veteran goalie should help them become a more confident team. I just didn't know they would be this good but then there are articles on how they are shooting at a high percentage and they are able to win games. Sustainable? Maybe...maybe not...

The thread from the CalgaryPuck forum says otherwise, and that was already AFTER the Flames got off to a better than expected start.
Even discounting the first three options in the poll, 34 said they were a playoff team, while 100 thought the wheels would fall off.
That's only 25% of fans that thought the Flames were a playoff team at that point. That indicates that before the season started, the percentage should have been even lower.
Colorado had a great one and done season last year too. The flames might have turned the corner or they might be over achieving. We'll find out next year. But in any case, good for them.
Carter fucked up big time! I remember when he didnt re-sign and went to carolina then blue jackets I think! Such a waste of a player then I guess he went to Europe and played a few seasons there and called it quits! He should have just stayed here what an idiot....
