That Naslund interview in the first intermission... no interest in hockey, clearly getting irritated at Murph continuing to push if he will ever come back to a hockey-related job geez........

Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

I wish we had involved arena fans like the Jets do.
The games can be so fucking depressing sometimes...its like you pay with part of your larynx the moment your enter the building or something.

Being deprived of an nhl team for 17 yrs can do that to real fans.
apparently being a competent team for the last 12 or so years also does the opposite and gives you complacent, mouse-voiced, suite-wearing nancies squeaking into the arena and masquerading as Canucks fans
Rogers arena should set up some sort of like decibel measuring device for each section...loudest section every game gets a shot at prizes...or really anything to get the fans involved. I've seen a McPlayplace with five kids louder than the whole fucking arena at times.

If you think the level of ambience is bad at a Canucks game, I urge you to check out a game at the ACC in Toronto. Now THATS bad!

When was the last time you went to a game?
This year hosts and atmosphere seem more laid back oppose to previous seasons. Real fans are starting to attend games because all the bandwagon's already jumped off, which makes the atmosphere quite fun
apparently miller wont skate until around the start of the first round. is he off to sj in the summer if lack does decent in the playoffs? apparently his full ntc ends after this season as well.

Go to whitecaps games. they are my #1 sport for live stadium experience! memorize the chants (found online) and join in the singing -- it's hella fun.
I don't find anything wrong with the canucks atmosphere, it's just different.
last time i went was last year...can't rmbr who it was against but it was pretty quiet. When the team isn't doing much, you can literally hear a pin drop in most sections.
when the WCE era was just starting...those were good times to be at the games. As a kid, I vaguely rmbr the atmosphere when Bure was still in town but it was a lot livelier than today's laid back crowds.
definitely gonna go to some Caps games this season...one thing on my bucket list is to go to see a match in the BPL or see a World Cup game live.
I don't think they are "real fans" now. It's simply people who couldn't or wouldn't afford it before going now. Tickets were never insanely expensive, especially the day of the game. People just had a perception it was this extravagant price they couldn't afford.
Now it's the people who were saying the canucks sucked after they lost the cup and the build up to it taking selfies at the game trying to show off.

can i ask , what makes someone a "real" fan ? and compare it between regular-everyday ppl, not the suits lol
Many definitions. For me it's anyone who knows the 2nd/3rd line players and maybe the 4th line (problematic since it changes for all teams frequently). Has to watch some games even when the team is doing horribly.
-Sportsnet article about Mario Lemieux and Guy LaFleur being in the same picture.
(Lemieux is the 15 year old kid wearing the black sport coat in the picture)
It’s a great image – shot by award-winning, now-retired photographer Doug Ball of The Canadian Press – but what’s more remarkable is who’s in the background. The fan cheering in a black sport coat is a 15-year-old Mario Lemieux, who was a Midget AAA star in Quebec at the time.
On Wednesday, Stubbs wrote about how he managed to get a hold of a high quality version of the photo and tells the story of how Lemieux ended up with those incredible front-row seats.
Lemieux and Lafleur have many things in common: both francophone hockey legends to come out of the QMJHL, both first-overall draft picks, both Stanley Cup champions, both inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. They now also share this photo.
