with the 66th pick the canucks select Nikita Tryamkinis a 6-foot-7 220lb, defence man from Russia doesn't speak much english. Sergei Chibisov is translating his and has 2 years left on his KHL contract. he said he wants to be the next big Russian in Vancouver.

Our 36th pick was the top rated goaltender prospect in this years draft, Thatcher Demko.

Boston College's Thatcher Demko No. 1-rated goalie at midterm NHL CSS rankings - 2014 NHL Draft - Philadelphia - June 27-28, 2014

murd0c 06-28-2014 07:28 AM

and we traded our 50th pick to LA for Linden Vey

Jmac 06-28-2014 07:36 AM

Nathan Walker finally gets drafted in his last eligible year. My buddy played with him in Australia for a bit.

Grandmaster TSE 06-28-2014 07:44 AM

Polak to Leafs for Gunnarson

Bollig to Calgary for 3rd round pick

EuterVanWasser 06-28-2014 07:54 AM

This has been a fun draft to follow. Lots of moving and shaking and nothing Benning has done so far has made me scratch my head or say the proverbial "Oh well, In Gillis we Trust".

Mike Oxbig 06-28-2014 07:58 AM

Is anyone gonna step up to be the #1 center? I have a feeling McCann will...

mccann
vey
horvat
gaunce

EuterVanWasser 06-28-2014 08:51 AM

OK fail - how do you embed youtube videos? First time I've tried in years.

edit: Oh.. and just like that I got it :accepted:

Botchford reported that demko needs 2 hip surgeries....apparently he wants to do em next year and wants to play this year first and feel it out because he doesn't wanna miss the first couple months of the season despite the fact that he'll inevitably have to do the procedure anyway.

:fulloffuck:

Terrible decision imo, might as well get surgery over and done with now rather than play on it and probably make it worse

You guys who were shitting on McCann pick over the 'it is what it is' comment are stupid. How mature were your media answers when you were 17 years old?

Overreaction over nothing. Typical Canuck fans.

Looks pretty happy here: Rapid Fire Q&A Jared McCann 06.27.14 Video - NHL VideoCenter - Vancouver Canucks

RRxtar 06-28-2014 09:59 AM

its funny how we all know how poorly the canucks have drafted for a generation, yet we all expect all our new draft picks to be difference makers.

OGCStrike 06-28-2014 10:02 AM

hmm considering how boston is right up against the cap(maybe even over?)
maybe we can lowball loui erikkson off them for cheap since he was subpar last year.
and plus hes magic with the sedins too :accepted:

from the rep that Benning has as a scout and assisitant GM I have to see hopefully a lot more potential then the past. It's a new start for the Canucks in a way and everyone is excited which is a big part of it as well.

Benning is doing what Gillis failed to do properly: A reset.

This GM is rebooting the franchise in the right way to build a Stanley Cup contender. :fuckyea:

-build four lines that have size, speed, and can play physical. -add more scoring to this team and improve the defence to follow the LA Kings model.

dbaz 06-28-2014 12:49 PM

can only do a reboot if the owners allow it, which they didnt allow gillis to do. seems with kesler telling the team he wouldnt come to camp it spelt it on the wall for the aqualinis, and they agreed to a rebuil

highfive 06-28-2014 01:02 PM

My memory of Linden Vey

always against the Canucks...

Dorsett got his first goal against us too. lol
