Eddie reminds me of Cloutier for some reason. He's doesn't dazzle and isn't exactly great but he gets the job done for the most part. I don't think he'll ever be an elite goalie but he'll get the job done. What bothers me the most about Eddie's game is that there are times when he over commits and is too aggressive and leaves one side way open. Sure he's made some clutch saves but he's also let in his fair share of questionable goals at crucial times.
Cloutier barely could break a .900 save %. I think we should give Eddie a little more credit.
The fallout continues for ex-NHLer Andre Deveaux following his vicious pregame slash of an opponent during Swedish league play — per news agency TT, Swedish prosecutors have issued a warrant for Deveaux’s arrest.
Prosecutors acted after viewing footage that’s gone viral over the last 72 hours. In a brief video clip Deveaux, playing for Swedish second division outfit Rogle, skates up to Vasteras’ Per Helmersson during pregame warmups and delivers a vicious slash to the back of Helmersson’s leg.

True, that's just me. Still too early in Eddie's career but I'm not too impressed yet. He just reminds me of Cloutier, but he still got plenty of time to break that impression.
I know he was a shit show but Cloots also had three 30+ wins season in a row (pre SO) and decent save percentage + GAA between 01-04.
He got a lot of flak for never being able to pull through but he did put up some decent numbers. Especially when you consider who was playing in front of him. Ohlund/Sopel would've been the better dmen at that time.
But yeah, he was completely useless in the post season. Hopefully Eddie puts up better numbers in the playoffs if he plays in them.
whys that?
iirc we beat them a couple times in this regular season, but thats the regular season
blues should be contenders
not just a couple of times, Canucks have owned them the past 6 times, so that extends to a bit of last season too. But you're right, playoffs is a different game.
Maybe just my gut feeling, that Canucks will actually play up to a stronger team, and the Blues have the pressure. While the Flames are just having fun on their success right now, and Canucks are probably looking down on them. But I'm not saying Flames are a bad choice either.

Back then, we could always outscore the opposition:
But once in the playoffs, goals are that much harder to come by...
In 01-02, remember the turning point in the series vs Detroit? We were up 2-0 in the series with both wins on the road, but Detroit came back with 4 straight victories.

The Detroit goal from center sticks around for Cloutier, but IMO, the real disappointment was the Minnesota series of 02-03. The Canucks were pretty good that year with a 10 game win streak and another streak of like 15 games without losing in regulation. And they were up 3-1 against Minnesota and lost 3 games in a row and Cloutier let in like 45 goals in those 3 games.

Worst part was that Bertuzzi promised a win and that never happened.

lol'd at "45 goals in 3 games" because that's barely an exaggeration
