What sense does it make when you have Horvat who has been one of the best players in the series play fewer minutes than players like Dorsett who was struggling all game.
But then they also lose in the fashion that they do repeatedly. This team who have had their share of catastrophic meltdowns in recent years still manage to find a way to push that bar further down with this series loss and while the Flames were the better team the series was anyone's to take.
So when you have a coaching staff who seems to be resisting at playing the younger guys more there's reason for concern moving forward as to what opportunities guys like Shinkaruk, Jensen, Corrado and co. will have if and when they make the team. Fans have already accepted the fact last year that we'll deal with the growing pains and mistakes of the younger guys if we get to see them more on the ice. | As a side note, BoHo more than likely wouldn't have even been given a chance to play this season under Torts/AV. I like what WD/JB/Linden have done this year. It's a learning process for all three and if we keep trending in this fashion, we'll do alright.

Benning needs to do a better job with contracts. Aside from the Tanev extension, the other contracts (Dorsett, Sbisa especially) have ranged from average to albatross.
I don't want to get into the situation Boston finds themselves in currently.
Also, how is Jordan Subban still unsigned? Tick-tock, 2 months left before he re-enters the draft.

^ Maybe cuz he sucks? I haven't been watching him... but I don't think any of us combined are qualified to judge hockey talent more than Benning and I'm sure a detail oriented guy like him is well aware of the contract situations with all the players they currently own the rights to.

Should be more worried when there's a week/few days left and he's still unsigned

23rd is worst case scenario for us.
The 4 teams that make it to the Conference Finals will get 27-30 (30th to the Stanley Cup Champ, 29th to the runner-up).
If those 4 teams are CGY, MIN, DET/OTT, and NYI/WSH, we'll pick 19th. For each of those teams that doesn't make it to the Conference Finals, we pick 1 spot worse.
So I guess we're cheering for Calgary now |

regardless of the pick, I hope we trade up.
I get the sense that we will and there will be a blockbuster at the draft.
Highly doubt Benning scouted around for no reason. I think he's got every intention to move up and acquire a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Apparently the Canucks dropped 4 draft positions because of the win vs Edmonton in the finale
Could've been picking at 18/19 rather than the 23rd they're currently projected at.... |

You got to admit, the magic that burke pulled off in 1999 was probably the most exciting draft a canucks fan ever had. We'd have to go on an epic tank buffalo style for something like that to happen again.
