I will give you that, I've been waiting for the flames to fall of all season long. The advanced stats suggest the same. The further your team over accomplishes, the harder your regression to the mean will be. And it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Just ask the also rebuilding Colorado avalanche who strayed too far up from the mean with a jack Adams winning coach last season and see where they are this post season. Oh right they didn't make it. By all accounts Hartley should win the Adams this year, but I'd also fully expect Dallas, LA, and Sj to press harder for a playoff spot next season. We'll see how your darlings do next year

Really just offloading the majority of Luongo's cap hit given the toxicity of the situation and his refusal to go any where not Florida, getting any serviceable players back for any amount of time was just a bonus.

20 SOG for the Ducks in the 1st period. :lawl:

Edmonton is out as of this afternoon. Down to 3.

Apparently, goaltending coach is a big factor; Edmonton's sucks.

Matt O'Connor may be inching closer to signing his first NHL contract.

Since falling short of a NCAA championship as a student at Boston University, the undrafted goalie has been meeting with several clubs around the league.

After some deliberation, O'Connor remains in talks with the Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, and is looking to work with an experienced position coach who can help hone his game, according to Louis Jean of TVA Sports.

All three teams have a measure of goaltending depth working in their favor, while the 23-year-old is certainly hoping to make the jump to the pro level with some assurance of playing time.

O'Connor posted a record of 25-4-4 with a 2.18 goals-against-average and a .927 during his senior year at BU.

Can anyone explain how these "undrafted" player things work? If you don't get drafted, wouldn't you just enter next year's draft and so on?

But... in the end, Flames took out Canucks before they fell, despite you waiting for it all season. Flames were clearly the better team in the series. I think that really is all that matters at this point. The rest of your post just sounds ridiculously butthurt. :derp:

Well, players can't be drafted at age 23 anymore (since 2005 CBA).

Also, players out of major junior that are undrafted after their first eligible draft can be signed between the draft and the start of their major junior team's season (or NHL season if a try-out contract was signed prior to the junior team's season).

willystyle 05-03-2015 10:56 PM

What's so good about this goalie?

24-4-4 last season for Boston University, led his team to the NCAA Championship.

Doesn't hurt to get a free prospect/more competition for our goalie prospects http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/im...lies/dunno.gif

We gotta find more goalies to trade away :troll:

I could be totally wrong. But I think it's more about getting a prospect without wasting draft picks or any assets. If you sign him on a 2-way contract, you can strike it rich if he pans out or you can just bury him into the minors if things don't work out. A maxed out contract in the AHL is 70k/yr, I believe. And it doesn't even affect cap space. That's a drop in the bucket.

Tim Budong 05-04-2015 03:46 PM

I guess the canucks draft history from BU is why O'Conner is considering the Canucks. Mehhh if they get him. Then good for us...

This us just another prospect that adds fuel to fire to the media and idiots alike to bitch about getting younger

murd0c 05-04-2015 03:52 PM

The Canucks have done a great job with bringing up rookie goalie's the last 5 years so I think there is a good chance that we could land him.
