The flames are much more impressive for what they have done, compared to the Canucks(it's a known fact across the hockey world, no one can deny that)
I will give you that, I've been waiting for the flames to fall of all season long. The advanced stats suggest the same. The further your team over accomplishes, the harder your regression to the mean will be. And it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Just ask the also rebuilding Colorado avalanche who strayed too far up from the mean with a jack Adams winning coach last season and see where they are this post season. Oh right they didn't make it. By all accounts Hartley should win the Adams this year, but I'd also fully expect Dallas, LA, and Sj to press harder for a playoff spot next season. We'll see how your darlings do next year

Edmonton is out as of this afternoon. Down to 3.
Apparently, goaltending coach is a big factor; Edmonton's sucks.
Matt O'Connor may be inching closer to signing his first NHL contract.
Since falling short of a NCAA championship as a student at Boston University, the undrafted goalie has been meeting with several clubs around the league.
After some deliberation, O'Connor remains in talks with the Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, and is looking to work with an experienced position coach who can help hone his game, according to Louis Jean of TVA Sports.
All three teams have a measure of goaltending depth working in their favor, while the 23-year-old is certainly hoping to make the jump to the pro level with some assurance of playing time.
O'Connor posted a record of 25-4-4 with a 2.18 goals-against-average and a .927 during his senior year at BU.

But... in the end, Flames took out Canucks before they fell, despite you waiting for it all season. Flames were clearly the better team in the series. I think that really is all that matters at this point. The rest of your post just sounds ridiculously butthurt.

Can anyone explain how these "undrafted" player things work? If you don't get drafted, wouldn't you just enter next year's draft and so on?
Well, players can't be drafted at age 23 anymore (since 2005 CBA).
Also, players out of major junior that are undrafted after their first eligible draft can be signed between the draft and the start of their major junior team's season (or NHL season if a try-out contract was signed prior to the junior team's season).
Doesn't hurt to get a free prospect/more competition for our goalie prospects
I could be totally wrong. But I think it's more about getting a prospect without wasting draft picks or any assets. If you sign him on a 2-way contract, you can strike it rich if he pans out or you can just bury him into the minors if things don't work out. A maxed out contract in the AHL is 70k/yr, I believe. And it doesn't even affect cap space. That's a drop in the bucket.
