Boom...head shot.

As per Mark Spector, O'Connor signs with the Sens. Lol just waiting for the "it was a tough choice between Ottawa and Van" article now.

Nabatron 05-09-2015 09:06 AM

Van always the bridesmaid never a bride...

Always end up on the short end of the stick with these free agents!!

Hondaracer 05-09-2015 09:08 AM

Why would u want to come to Van as a goalie? Like given the current situation and history probably the last place a decent prospect would want to come lol

6o4__boi 05-09-2015 09:13 AM

Duh, to be a part of a goalie controversy of course.
who doesn't want to be in a goalie drama, it does wonders for your career. :troll:

Nabatron 05-09-2015 09:13 AM

He was saying he wants to go to a team who has a goalie coach who could take him to the next level....I cant see Ott doing this...I mean look at Rollies resume he has done a great job with all the goalies hes worked with..

Yeah, a lot of people will say they want to get better but most just want to make it to the pros and get that big contract.

In Van, you'll have to pay your dues and wait in line (like Eriksson/Markstrom). Whereas in Ott, you're almost guaranteed playing time and a decent D in front of you. Edm would be a good choice if their D is even remotely competent (see Dubnyk turn around).

How is Ottawa "almost guaranteed playing time" behind the likes of Hammond/Anderson/Lehner and Ottawa's other goalie prospects? :derp:

If O'Connor's decision was based on "a goalie coach that could take him to the next level" im surprised he didn't choose Vancouver and Rollie given his resume.

Then again Vancouver's history of goalie controversy might of scared O'Connor off :lol

Nabatron 05-09-2015 11:16 AM

Meh its not a big deal he didnt sign with van anyways!

We already have demko waiting in the background...as for our goalies now I see it happening like this they move either lack or markstrom in the summer time to recoup some draft picks, let miller be play majority of the games either splitting them with lack/marky...dump miller the following summer for some shit pick, lack/marky be #1 and sign some vet back up for cheap while demko is getting ready for the show and then bring him up...

something along those lines of jumple...

Anderson is getting pretty old at 35.

Hammond will likely be a no. 1 soon enough (if, and this is a pretty big if, he continues his play) while Lehner, well, he isn't all that good.

Remember that Hammond has really only emerged this season, whether he continues to dominate is really up in the air.

6o4__boi 05-09-2015 12:45 PM

Hammond is a flash in the pan.
calling it now, he's gonna get good money and put up shit numbers next season

You do realize that Dubnyk had stops in Nashville, Montreal, and Arizona before becoming a Vezina finalist, right?

Dubnyk was acquired to be Nashville's temporary starter while Rinne was injured, but Trotz and their goalie coach ripped him and Edmonton's development before he was relegated to their #4 behind Hutton and Mazenec.

Nashville then shipped him to Montreal for literally nothing (future considerations), where he was, again, their #4 behind Price (injured in the playoffs), Tokarski, and Budaj.

Dubnyk didn't start to turn his game around until he worked with Sean Burke in Arizona. Edmonton's coaches and trainers are fully to blame for Dubnyk being garbage until halfway through this season.

saw on Twitter that 2016 top prospect Auston Matthews will reportedly sign with Zurich next season.
Looks like he'll be playing under Crow.

murd0c 05-10-2015 10:29 AM

Sounds like Crow might be in the NHL next season tho

Report: Auston Matthews signs in Swiss league | ProHockeyTalk

Yup, Matthews missed the cut off for the 2015 draft by 2 days, otherwise it would be an elite top 3 this draft year with McDavid, Eichel and Matthews and he would've been picked by his hometown team Coyotes. Matthews is evidence that Coyotes hockey has been making at least a small difference, with more kids in Arizona now playing hockey and organized leagues for kids, much like all the California kids being drafted and in the NHL now from following the Kings, Sharks and Ducks.

This might be a smart move by Matthews, makes $500k, gets to play against men instead of junior kids and he won't be subject to the CHL/AHL transfer rule if he's not NHL ready and can play in the AHL.

Might have to buy myself a Kesler Ducks jersey in that case :troll:

Playnow has a "Alex Ovechkin to score a goal and the Washington Capitals to WIN" with a payout at 2.75.

Washington winning is pretty good while Ovie scoring is up in the air.
