Some pros that spend their off season and summer in the Buffalo area (lol yes, people do choose to spend summers and retire in Buffalo, its cottage/lake country) routinely get together to play in a summer hockey league organized by one of the Sabres scouts, 2015 rosters so far 2015 Rosters | Fattey Hockey League

Team Mordor looking pretty stacked with Pat Kane and his cousin, Girgensons and Cory Conacher, rumor is Jack Eichel will be joining that team. Team Mordor should be putting up 20 goals a game lol. Looks like Ryan Miller is playing as a forward for Team Cloud City, wonder how he'll do lol. Mike Peca's son, Tyler Johnson and Tim Kennedy are playing too.

murd0c 05-26-2015 07:19 PM

man that would be awesome playing summer league against nhl players, I would love that

LUUUUUUUU 05-26-2015 07:26 PM

man Cole Cassels is beast, Gens just beat the Rockets and are now in the Memorial Cup Finals

And Tampa falls apart. It's like Gary Bettman visited their dress room during the second intermission and dropped a bag of cash for them to take a drive and force a game 7. Ha! I had a feeling it would go 7 games though. Same with Ducks vs. Hawks. Hawks will win tonight and force a game 7. Ducks vs. Rangers in the final and Ducks take the Cup.

Looks like the Sharks are hiring DeBoer as their head coach next year

Kinda surprising, I thought the Sharks could do better. I don't fancy DeBoer as a good coach but the Devils weren't that great to begin with. I just associate anything boring and shitty with the Devils.

'Hawks killing it right now.

I think they need 5 to avoid OT

Ch28 05-27-2015 06:59 PM

How many goals does Patrick Kane have in this series so far? Need that power pick :lol

[edit] Kane has 3 goals after tonight so we just need Hawks to win game 7 and we're good

Evander Kane was calling out a sportswriter on twitter this morning, tried to look up the article but was deleted of their site. For anybody interested, I found it on google cache for anybody interested. Pretty tame, but also a pretty pointless article.

Writer's response to Kane:

Even the website isn't backing the author:

How Evander Kane Will Help The Manitoba Moose

How Evander Kane Will Help The Manitoba Moose

The Fairmont Hotel

It is the middle of the fall of 2014 and I’m walking out of the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Winnipeg with my ten year old nephew. The night is cool and crisp as we make our way out of the front lobby to my car. As we walk and recount the night’s events, my nephew stops dead in his tracks, his eyes locked on a figure in the corner of the parking lot. He looks like he has seen a ghost. It is no ghost, it is Evander Kane.

Naturally my nephew is excited and wants to approach Kane to ask for his autograph but I stop him…my mind is already beginning to race. I watch Kane as he paces back and forth texting and making phone calls, evidently very “busy”. I begin to recount the past few years of Kane’s “legacy” in Winnipeg, things my young nephew would never pay any attention to or know about. I would’ve liked to give Kane the benefit of the doubt but I also begin to play out the situation and my reaction if Kane snubs my nephew. “Not tonight buddy, we will get his autograph another time”, I state as I lead my nephew in the direction of my car.

By the time we reach my car and begin the drive home, my nephew has forgotten about Evander Kane. I haven’t. My nephew has moved on to talking about the latest Call Of Duty game and the guns he is close to unlocking. I nod my head and ask a few questions pertaining to Black Ops but my mind is elsewhere. Mentally, I’m still back in the parking lot of the Fairmont, holding back a young fan from going and asking a Winnipeg Jet for their autograph (I know that most of the players are great with the fans and carry themselves in a professional manner). However, this is a Winnipeg Jet who wears the famous #9 and who has slowly brought negativity and shame to the once “Golden” number.

I drop my nephew off at home and as he gets out of the car, I shoot one more apology at the kid. “It’s okay Uncle Carson”, he replies, “He looked busy”. The car door shuts, with me trying to say something but I have nothing. I sit in my car fuming over the fact that I had to shut down a ten-year-old from getting an autograph because I didn’t know how that athlete would react. I look in the rear view mirror asking myself, “What is wrong with this situation”? Part of me wants to rip back downtown to that parking lot and tell Kane face to face what I think of him. I check myself again and realize that wouldn’t do anything and he doesn’t care. In a night full of questions and what if’s, there is one thing for sure which has been hammered home by Kane’s antics since arriving- he does not care.

Subway and Cheveldae

I lay in bed staring at the ceiling thinking about my own childhood and my own experiences with the 1.0 Jets. I was fortunate enough to have a childhood friend whose father was close with the Jets which allowed us to meet many of the players. I have fond memories of Dave Manson taking us on tours of the dressing room and having a sandwich with Tim Cheveldae at Subway. I can remember Jim McKenzie standing in -40 Celsius signing autographs or Teppo Numminem handing out hockey cards outside his Waverley Street home. They cared and we knew it.

Since the trade of Kane, I have almost completely forgotten about him. Almost…I will never understand the attitude or the antics. However, I try and make a conscious effort to draw positives from any situation. The return of the Moose to Manitoba makes room for another group of young men to make up for Kane’s shortcomings. So in closing I will offer some advice to the players who may not have experienced Winnipeg or the atmosphere that comes with playing here:

This city and the fans are ready to embrace you like their own. If you come ten percent, the fans will come ninety. All that we ask is that you play your hearts out while respecting the jersey on and off the ice. Hopefully there is one among you who can make the jump to the Jets, don that #9 and restore the pride and tradition that number carried in this city.
