Then they still have guys like Saad, Richards, Hjalmarsson, etc. as depth players. | Not doubting that at all. But they have had a long hard series against a very big and physical team. It's only a matter of time imo before their top end players start burning out. Those guys have played big minutes and been clutch performers without a doubt.
But with a quicker and less predictable team in Tampa, it will be an interesting finals. I totally respect the blackhawks as an organization, but I'm pulling for Tampa for the style of hockey they play. I'm not convinced Chicago can keep up with Tampa's speed
Props to Tampa as well for completely rebuilding and turning over their roster in just 4 years, going from a win to make the finals to playing for the cup this year.

That was the year canucks made it to the finals. Now all they've been doing is retooling. Still waiting to be significant again... |

No doubt their top 4 D are super exhausted. But don't forget Kane was fresh for the playoffs after coming back from his injury. And Tampa also just completed a 7-game series.
I can't believe cities like Carolina (1 for 1) and Tampa Bay (1 for 1) have won in the highest level of hockey, whereas Vancouver has not (0 for 3).

Carolina and Tampa Bay played "Cinderella" teams that had no real business being in the finals.
The Canucks played powerhouse teams all 3 times (dynasty Islanders, multiple HOFer-led Rangers, and the 2011 Bruins).
The '04 Flames and especially the '06 Oilers couldn't hold a candle to any of those teams.

tim thomas won them the cup | The Bruins were good for years before the Horton hit.
The Bruins won their conference in '08-'09, struggled in '09-'10 only because of injuries to key players (Tim Thomas missed most of the season, leading scorer Marc Savard had his career ended halfway through the season, lost Kessel to general douchiness in the offseason, etc.) but still made the playoffs. Had a +51 goal differential (2nd only to the Canucks) in '10-'11 to go with a Vezina- and Calder-winning year from Tim Thomas (93.8 Sv%) en route to the Cup. Won their division in '11-'12, went to the Stanley Cup Finals again in '12-'13, and won the Presidents' Trophy last season.
How the hell do you compare a team that was dominant for 6 years with a pair of flash-in-the-pan teams like the '04 Flames and the '06 Oilers?

But none the less, I find his statement still wrong. The first 2 games were close. In fact, all of Canucks wins were very close. Take a step back and review the scores and it looks like Canucks had no business even being in that series. They got lucky 3 times.

It should also be noted that Chicago wanted Vancouver to eat half of Kesler's salary.

Hossa was also in a place where any team would move mountains for his services.. not sure Kes has the same street cred.

Utica won today, series 3-2 UTI heading back home for games 6 and 7.
Gaunce had a big game, Markstrom solid again.
Ottawa Sun reported that Benning is shopping Lack for a 2nd round pick.
