Most likely.

Miller's cap hit hurts his value. Markstrom hasn't proven anything at the NHL level to warrant that kind of return.

CRS 05-31-2015 06:38 PM

No way Lack is being traded for a second rounder.

Goaltenders don't fetch much on the trade market.

If we can get Buffalo's 2nd for Lack (31st overall), I wouldn't be too disappointed. If it's a mid-to-late 2nd, :heckno:

Mike Oxbig 05-31-2015 09:27 PM

Do it for buffalo's 2nd if Markstrom wins the calder cup

Look at what Luongo got us
Look at what Schneider got us

Goalies have no trade value, especially when the team is being forced to make a trade.

68style 05-31-2015 09:52 PM

Schneider got a 9th overall pick? Is he a better goalie than Lack? I personally don't think so.

murd0c 05-31-2015 10:05 PM

no question Schneider is a better goalie then lack and he was more experienced as well

wow..just wow..wow..one of the most stupidest post ive seen so far in this thread..lol

lawlzzzzzz

Lack is a better option than Miller simply cuz of what this team is. I wouldn't really look further than that because as much compete either goalie gives us, this team's real issue isn't goaltending.

Turns out Zuccarello's injury was a brain contusion and he lost his ability to talk temporarily. That's crazy.

"I don't know what you guys know, but there was a small fracture in my head. I lost my (ability to) talk and some feeling in my arm and stuff. I was in the hospital for three days," Zuccarello said. "I couldn't talk for a while. I had a contusion, some blood in my brain. That affects a lot. I went to speech therapy. I'm getting much better. I couldn't say a word for four days... I feel much better and I'm getting better and better."

By the time this team is ready to compete again thatcher demco will be between the pipes

I'm trying to find this hockey columnist that predicts the stanley cup finals winner.

I think he got it right in the exact number of games 5 years in a row (but got last year wrong). Anyone know who (or what article) I'm talking about??

Never can remember his name...

I was just stating my opinion from watching all these years, if you don't agree that's fine, but why turn it into a personal insult? And if you're going to do that, at least have the balls to back it up with something, where's your evidence of how "stupid" it is? Here I'll help you out with some actual numbers:

Schneider w/Canucks: 55wins/26losses GAA 2.69 Save% 0.917
Lack w/Canucks: 34wins/30losses GAA 2.43 Save% 0.917

Be honest, how is he any worse? Especially considering he's played 2 years on marginal Canucks teams?

Both had great regular season performances and won over the loyalty of the fans. Both shit the bed at various points in the playoffs and neither one of them seemed like a long-term solution. I'm just being realistic with what we saw here. Schneider was 1-4 in playoff games here you might remember.

You guys are delusional living in the past if you think Schneider was any more of an answer to anything than Lack is. As far as the Canucks go, I think they both are the same answer to a question nobody wants to ask. Spelling it out -- neither one of them is a Stanley Cup goalie.

Jmac 06-01-2015 04:09 PM

You're not calculating GAA and Sv% properly. You can't just add them up and divide by the number of seasons. The 8 games in '08-'09 and 2 games in '09-'10 don't have the same weight as the 25+ games he played in the following 3 seasons.

Schneider was 55-26-8 w/ a 2.20 GAA, a 92.7 Sv%, and 9 SO while he was in Vancouver. 56-30-8 w/ a 2.23 GAA, a 92.7 Sv%, and 9 SO if you include the playoffs.

Lack is 34-30-9 w/ a 2.43 GAA, a 91.7 Sv%, and 6 SO. 35-33-9 w/ a 2.45 GAA, a 91.5 Sv%, and 6 SO if you include the playoffs.

Pretty big difference between a 92.7 Sv% goaltender and a 91.7 Sv% goaltender.

Schneider didn't shit the bed in the playoffs; he had a 92.2 Sv% overall, brought down by the 2 games against San Jose in which AV played him over Luongo despite Schneider being injured. We lost the games he played against the Kings (96.0 Sv%, 1.31 GAA) because we couldn't score goals. We lost the games Lack played against the Flames because Lack couldn't come up w/ saves.

Don't see this too often, teams that just finished battling each other in a series making a trade with each other, TB gets Daniel Walcott from Rangers for a 7th rd pick, lol maybe Sather lost a bet to Yzerman

PiuYi 06-01-2015 07:03 PM

Honestly I don't think the difference between Lack and Schneider is as great as you guys make it out to be either. Schneids is obvs the better goalie, but Lack isn't too far behind... look at the teams they had in front of them, Schneids played behind president trophy winning teams his first 2 seasons... Lack only really started playing last year and look at the cluster fuck he had in front of him

No doubt Lack is behind in development age-wise (Schneider was a fully developed #1 in the league by age 27), but if Schneider was worth a 9th overall, I wouldn't bite on a second rounder for Lack

One thing I think hurting Lacks value is an increase in capable #1's this year. With dubnyk, hammond bursting on to the scene, GM's are more willing to gamble on goalies than couple years ago

Personally, I'd rather get nothing but capspace back for Miller than trade Lack away at this point

Jmac 06-01-2015 07:11 PM

Did you see the shitstorm Schneider put up a 92.5 Sv% behind this season?

I, too, would prefer to dump Miller for nothing. But, then again, if management believes Markstrom is "the guy" in the next year or two, it makes some sense to get a top 35 pick now rather than let Lack walk for nothing next offseason.

100% truth

more GMs are probably willing to give goalies within their system a shot as you have a few good stories here and there. This is especially true for the shittier teams who can showcase a few of their goalies and attempt to move pieces.

68style 06-02-2015 04:29 AM

Oh well I guess I like Lack's solid games better, just my opinion... My main pint was someone said we got nothing for our goalies before and thats not true -- 9th overall was a pretty decent return although we did get lucky with Horvat and obviously a 9th overall in this draft is worth a lot more than the one Horvat was in.

:rukidding:
lack, isnt as solid. he still has too much movement, and overplays at times. and people thought we should of got more for schnieder.
do you even know who was in the 2013 draft? mackinnon, barkov, drouin, jones, lindholm, monahan, nurse, ritsolainen, horvat, and nichuskin were the first 10 picks. outside of the top 2 this year, i wouldnt say the picks are worth a lot more, or more at all. we didnt get lucky at all with horvat.everyone knew he was gonna be a good nhler, they just didnt know, and still dont know if he can produce at a top line rate. come on guy.

Especially with news coming out today that the cap for next season could be 70 million and below. Canucks are already at 66 mill with 10 forwards and 5 defensemen signed.
