Daniel Carcillo has 2 Stanley Cup rings and 3 Stanley Cup Finals appearances over the past 3 seasons while playing a grand total of 12 playoff games.

Toews is gonna lift Bettman over his head and skate around if the cup doesn't get there soon.

Hawwkkkkksss!

Maybe the next time the Canucks get 3rd overall they might have a chance at a player like Toews. Although with hindsight being 20/20, he should/would have gone 1st.

I remember that draft clearly, its not even hindsight 20/20... blues and pens drafted position that needed to be filled and not the best player available.

Erik Johnson was the consensus #1 prospect.

CSS, ISS, TSN, The Hockey News, and Red Line Report all had Erik Johnson ranked #1.

TSN Top 30 Archive: 2006 NHL Entry Draft
Inside College Hockey | 2006 NHL Draft: Pre-Draft Rankings

#2 was the pick that was kind of up in the air between Toews, Kessel, Staal, and Backstrom.

Were it not for some stupidity on the golf course with his friends early in his career, Erik Johnson could very well be a top defenseman in the league.

Do you understand hindsight being 20/20? You're saying at the time, they didn't choose him for that reason.

Whether or not Toews would have been a round peg in a square hole at the time, any team would be stupid to not draft him #1 if they had a time machine and an opportunity for a redo.

Mike Oxbig 06-15-2015 08:19 PM

Kessel was ranked #1 but some how fell to #5 due to injury aka the American phenom :fuckthatshit:

What happened to Erik Johnson?

The rumour is that Johnson and his friends were playing polo with golf carts (supposedly drunk) and his golf cart ended up rolling over, crushing his leg and destroying his ACL in the process.

This was in September 2008, shortly before training camp. Johnson was coming off an impressive rookie season in which he produced 33 points.

It's always interesting to see who the captain passes the cup to first - Kimmo Timonen in this case.

But nobody can beat Sakic's action of letting Bourque hoist the cup first.

You know that's what pretty much happened. Kimmo has been in the league for 16 years and has never one a cup either. He has three second place finishes I believe in the Olympics and his only other finals appearance was with Philly when they lost to the Hawks.

So Toews just like Sakic gave the cup to the person who's been craving it for 16 years.

Hondaracer 06-16-2015 02:43 PM

Toews > Sakic

one of the best moments in hockey history

Sakic didnt even hoist it

radioman 06-16-2015 02:59 PM

My fav hockey moment.

Props to Toews for passing it to a vet but sakic didn't bat an eye. Straight up handed it to Bourque.
