I know the concept is cheesy over here but i like it. It's like the league adopted the COD achievement unlocked feature.

Imagine NHL that scoring 60 goals mean that the tinted visor rule no longer applies to you; or any other swag like gold colored stick.

Never gonna happen but a fun concept to imagine

Haha Pretty much what I was thinking. Its like the useless Gold camo for guns in Cod.

It does absolutely nothing for you, but when someone watches the kill cam where you decimate them, they know for sure they just got pwned by a pro.

JesseBlue 08-25-2014 04:25 PM

its just like the yellow jersey in the tour de france...look at it as a target in your back, front, side etc

Spoiler!

goddam, euro jerseys are ugly as fuck...so polluted with garbage adverisements, it's like a 17 year old's attempt to stickerbomb their car

i didn't even know Don Taylor was let go by SN until I saw that post earlier...i was wondering why they had a bunch of no name scrubs doing Connected all summer, I just thought he was on vacation or something

Instead of cutting a few of the struggling teams that have shown they aren't hockey markets, lets expand the league, and make Las Vegas one of the new cities. And lets continue to demand the players be the ones to have to make salary sacrifices rather than the league show some financial responsibility at the next CBA because that makes more sense :sarcasm

Ronin 08-26-2014 09:24 PM

Ads are coming. I'm sure of it but I don't understand why they have to slap them on there like afterthoughts. Look at soccer jerseys. They're almost designed around the sponsor and they look great.

Ludepower 08-26-2014 09:47 PM

^ No thanks. Keep that garbage away.
Only the reason why I dont buy soccer jerseys.
Lets be a walking billboard for Bell. Support their oligopoly company.

trancehead 08-26-2014 10:41 PM

yeah...theres too much value on the hockey 'sweater' in traditional markets
lets leave that

just put a little logo like they do on practive jerseys. its prominent enough

Las Vegas might do a lot better than the other weaker markets.

Just think how many Canadians fly there during winter?

Stag trips. Corporate events.

I would love to fly down there. Watch a game. Go gamble. Strip clubs. And drink throughout the night.

soo more rumblings about expansion..
Report: Toronto, Seattle, Quebec City to join Vegas in 2017 NHL expansion - NHL - SI.com
this site mentions gallaghers article, but changed kansas city to toronto for some reason. kansas city seems like a weird decision, yet there would be many problems with another team in toronto.

people in vegas dont think they can support an nhl team, even with tourists. they would prefer a cheaper option like the mls, which could be popular with the mexican population.
Is it finally Las Vegas? time to get a major pro sports team? - Las Vegas Sun News
yet, as mgm is building the arena, id think they have no problem paying for a team, then filling the arena with events on the side. + possibly a basketball team in the future.

if the league goes to 34 teams, playoffs would more than likely have to be restructured, as youd have another 4 teams missing the playoffs. with too many teams missing, theres going to be problems with revenue.

jeedee 08-27-2014 06:47 AM

For sure the NHL will expand to 32 teams (2 expansion teams). I'm guessing Vegas and Quebec City.

I think 4 expansion teams would be pushing it

What would you prefer? Jersey with corporate sponsorship or a New Orleans Pelican jersey? :accepted:

Neither.

6o4__boi 08-27-2014 07:52 AM

soccer jerseys aren't bad...but that's probably because they've always been that way for as far as i can remember

euro hockey jerseys just overdo it with the ads

i'm actually surprised we haven't seen any ads creep into jerseys in the NHL yet (like the practice jerseys type of ads)

pastarocket 08-27-2014 08:48 AM

Aw yeah, that's good news for Seattle and the Canucks! We have a northwest rival now. -good chance that tickets to watch the Seattle hockey games would be cheaper than Canucks tickets.

-another reason to go to Seattle besides the Seahawks. :woot2:

PiuYi 08-27-2014 10:20 AM

apparently they only rake in 1.4 billion from expansion fees? :fuckthatshit:

if you're gonna fck up your league at least get paid more for doing it

sonick 08-27-2014 10:30 AM

Methinks the Las Vegas team is gonna win a lot of home games.

Hondaracer 08-27-2014 11:45 AM

It's funny how Pratt always goes on about how bettman is just about the money and he'll damage the league in order to get expansion fee's etc yet right now the NHL has never been stronger in it's history. For Bettmans faults he's made enough good moves along the way to get the game where it is today.

411ken 08-27-2014 11:59 AM

Imagine a weekend game in Vegas (or any day) and the Canucks are in town..oh man..... depends how much tix will be but I'd rather fly to vegas to watch lol then party

Bouncing Bettys 08-27-2014 01:20 PM

It would be such an uncertain market for a city to rely on tourists and at-the-gate sales over season ticket holders.

With gambling playing such a major role in Las Vegas, the integrity of the team and the sport would be put into question with the possibility of match-fixing.

There is a reason why other major sports leagues haven't put a team in Las Vegas and perhaps the NHL should consider why that is.

I do remember the CFL expantion Las Vegas Posse and what a joke they were. There are a number of people south of the border who see the NHL as small time and not much above the mickey mouse CFL. Changing that perception in LV won't be easy.

sonick 08-27-2014 01:26 PM

Willie Mitchell's turn with the cup, all kinds of awesome :sweetjesus:

Gonna be unreal when Las Vegas goes undefeated at home every year........ #nhl #expansion

pastarocket 08-27-2014 01:57 PM

A Las Vegas NHL team would cover the spread every time on home games. :toot:

Road teams would fly in to LV to play a game. -players get hammered on booze and worn out from partying with the ladies on the strip. :toot:

-might be a shit show on the ice for the tired road team when they play the Las Vegas team.

That's literally the going rate for an average NHL team by Forbes valuations (14, 15, 16, 17 add up to $1.457B)

Mike Oxbig 08-27-2014 08:18 PM

Islanders and Panthers (easy swap to Quebec City staying in same division) are probably teams being relocated while Las Vegas and Toronto gets expansion teams

John Tavares on the West Coast :hat:
