I guarantee that Edmonton will never even get a sniff before the majority of the team is blown up/leaves
that stat shot they showed during the game was rediculous.. 28th/29th/24th/27th/28th
the team plays so small, they have seemingly no system, you've got a bunch of "me" players, and no defense?
its like i said when i phoned in to 1040, it's totally not "just make it into the playoffs and see what happens" because teams in the West are far too good, and with the way other teams contracts are structured, these teams are going to be GOOD for a while..
so in the next 5 years, lay out 3 teams oilers are going to beat to get to a finals
SJ/ANA/LA/STL/CHI/COL?
lol, bye bye

he looked a lot stronger this year then last year, playing in the A will be a huge benefit for him because he really seems like the type of kid will to anything to put on some extra weight so he will succeed in the nhl next or the year after
I believe it was that Vancouver had their farm team in Winnipeg, and it was a great relationship, so there was no need to move. Abbotsford established their partnership with Calgary in 2009, two years before the Winnipeg Jets came back and moved the Moose to Atlantic Canada. This made the Canucks temporarily have to use Chicago as a farm team for a couple years, before establishing a permanent partnership with Utica. They tried striking a deal with the Flames before choosing Utica, to see if the Flames would relinquish their rights with the Abbotsford market, however a deal couldn't be met. Finally, last year the Heat left Abbotsford due to losing way too much money on a annual basis, but the Canucks are locked into a long term contract with Utica now.
If you remove references to farm team, replace the team name with people and the word partnership with relationship you'd have a pretty good drama lol.
Sucks but maybe when that contract is over there's a chance. Who knows Canucks could still be wallowing in the Pacific Basement by then
Because the heat wouldn't leave is the reason why it didn't happen
The Flames/Heat were prepared to walk away were an agreement reached, however, the Canucks/Comets were demanding an agreement equivalent to that given to the Flames/Heat and Abbotsford would not offer it. The Flames/Heat deal was that the team would hit a specific earnings target each year, and were it to not hit that target, the city would pay the difference.
I actually prefer the Canucks keep their farm team back east unless the AHL creates a western/pacific division. All the other AHL teams are on the east coast, so travel would be horrible and result also in less practice time. The Canucks would have also had to subsidized and pay for the other visiting AHL team's travel expenses out west to play the Abby team, just like how the Flames had to.

The AHL is planning on more western teams within the next few years.
there was also mention that Selanne was contemplating signing with the Kings before deciding to retire. Which pissed off Ducks fans that he would sign with their cross town rivals rather than return to Ducks, then Jets fans were pissed he had no interest in finishing career where he started.
