But when the school calendar starts back up next week, I don't know if the limits apply. The BC School Act doesn't seem to define "School day" anymore.

i was just thinking about this the other day...no kids during lockout in Sept = 50 zone?
I'm usually bad with following the 30 zone in school/playgrounds unless I actually see kids walking/playing around ...though I follow it to a T in backalleys just in case someone backs out suddenly or a kids come flying out on a skateboard/bike etc
Here is the info ICBC sent me for my driving school..
School zone speed limits during ICBC road tests
During the continued B.C. schools labour disruption, ICBC driver examiners will be expecting drivers to treat school zones as being in effect as if it were a regular school day — so it’s important that you advise your students to drive at the appropriate speed while taking their road test.
If you have any questions about how speed zones apply during road tests, contact your local driver licensing office.
