USED turbo kit vs NEW

I'm looking towards the forced induction route for my DC2.. But am having a hard time deciding on whether or not to piece together a used turbo kit, or to buy all parts brand new?

Perhaps you guys could provide me with your opinions, experiences or whatever you think will help me down the road.

I wouldn't piece it together unless you are on a strict budget. There are too many variables (you will find some parts with varying mileage). Even then, it requires a lot of patience. You wouldn't want to mickey mouse on parts. I would wait for somebody selling a complete reputable kit that does not have much mileage on it (with high quality pictures and documentation to prove). That way you can save a little bit. This is assuming you're doing it right though.

If you want boost for cheap, piecing one together would be the same as buying a used kit (depending on your patience).

if youre in a rush to get it done like this summer, get a kit.

That's exactly what the guys are G5 said to me.

Would I really save that much piecing it together used?

I want this done properly with high quality parts. No eBay items in this turbo build.

i put together my kit for about $1600
gauges- wideband, boost, oil temp
intercooler and bov
dsm injectors
manifold
wastegate
downpipe
- not including fuel management (hondata s300), tune and exhaust.

this is pretty cheap GO-AUTOWORKS Turbo Kits Honda Civic Acura Integra D16 B16 B18
then ontop of that you'll need a few other things,
fuel management
spark plugs
injectors
exhaust

Did you buy everything used? How did the setup run? Any hiccups?

Everything was bought used except for the turbo.

Tial wastegate, hks bov,
Cast log manifold
Ebay intercooler

Driven almost 40, xxx km so far no problems
Pulls good

My general rule is that I'll buy solid parts (ie manifolds, downpipes) used, anything with moving bits (turbo, injectors) has to be cheap enough to get it rebuilt and checked out before use.

Well thanks for all your input guys..

I've decided that I will be letting Garage Five piece together everything that I need to run the turbo setup 'safe' and efficiently.

Will be aiming for 250-300whp as a daily.

I got a turbo kit thats for an h22 motor that im thinking of selling
you will just need a different manifold
All solid parts (garret turbo, tial waste gate ,greddy bov, intecooler )

I have a b18c

thats why i said you just need a different manifold for the turbo to bolt in your motor
