remember the big snow storm of the 90s, I forgot which year it was but I remember making igloo with my sister that night and next morning my dad was hoping the snow would have melt but it didn't lol
my dad lived in Chicago for 8 years during his university days and that was that was the only it reminded him of Chicago during the winter time lol

I gave my buddy a ride home with my ATV. Ripping down a major road with him on a sled behind me. At one point we passed a Hydro truck, the only other vehicle on the road.
I wouldn't try this these days. First off, I'm too old to be arrested for hijinks. Also, I'm sure they would throw the book at you for doing something like this.

We got the snow, which we were used to, but New Years Eve we got walloped by freezing rain up in Kamloops. Everything was coated in nearly 2 inches of ice. My dad couldn't get the car up our very steep driveway and was really not wanting to park it on the street, also very steep, because it was quickly turning into a parking lot of crunched vehicles. I believe the ice was also responsible for causing a massive fire at a hotel which was under construction at the time.
Last night I decided to relive my Elementary school days and eat a crunched up bag of raw Ichiban with the powder sauce - living that bachelor life, what can I say. Everyone seemed to bring those for lunch for a year or two in the early 90's until they were banned by the school because of the mess they made in the classroom.

Earlier in the year when I was doing some house cleaning, I came across a bunch of old VCDs. Threw one into the PC's DVD drive, and fired up VLC to play it. Holy OMG... the resolution was so bad that I don't know how anyone (my old self included) could ever make any detail out of the picture.
And then the video compression technology back then was pretty bad too. You can literally see all the image artifacts from the video compression blurring things out, but in an ugly, large, blocky way.
(And I know I watched a gob ton of those VCDs back in the day...)

It wasn't as bad back then though, because you were watching them on low res screens... Like a normal NTSC or PAL TV was the equivalent 440P or 520P. VCDs were half of that each, and SVCD were full res, so obviously still very low, but not as bad as trying to watch them on your 1080p or 4K monitor today )

My brother recently fired up my Gamecube and played some Need for Speed Underground, he said it was basically unplayable trying to see where the hell to go. He had to use the mini map to guesstimate where to go lol.

I used to have my birthday parties at the McDonald's in Kerrisdale, in the non-smoking section. I got the new Super NES and I was so blown away.

Memba when that was a thing?
My favorite McDonald's birthday was in the caboose at the McD's on Boundary and Lougheed. Is the caboose even there anymore?

We drove in from Surrey for that party. It was that big of a deal back then
My grandparents lived on gov't road, so we spent a lot of time in Burnaby. In many ways, I grew up there as much as I grew up in Surrey.

remember back in the day when KFC was actually worth going to, toonie tuesdays and extra crispy
everyone lining up on tuesdays for KFC, toonie tuesday + $1 pop and theres a meal right there lol
my family isnt really brand loyal but KFC has always had a special place in my dads heart, even though it taste like crap (even my dad quality has gone down) but he would still get one in a blue moon when they changed it to tuesday special
i stopped eating KFC when they got rid of the extra crispy chicken

Dude, they still have extra crispy at KFC.
I think their Tuesday Specials are now like $3.49? The pieces are a bit smaller, but I think they still taste the same as before? or at least, it is similar enough that I wouldn't complain about the taste. Quote:

I can't remember if they call it "extra crispy" or "extra spicy", but they use a crispy batter on it, and it is not bad. I still like the original better though.
I usually go to the ones on Kingsway between Nanaimo and Victoria, and the one on Kingsway next to Burnaby NCIX (now Canada Computers). The cashier always asks whether I want original or crispy.
