For all the nostalgic feels, the Transit Museum Society still has all those buses you mentioned preserved.

For my bus riding childhood, the 6V92TA was my top favourite engine growing up
IIRC TransLink was getting $1000 per each scrapped D40(HF) but i was in grade 11 and I didn’t have a place to store a bus (still don’t) haha.
Series 50 was so noisy I wasn’t too much of a fan during the time but now it’s so nostalgic. 8.5L 4-cyl turbo diesel what the.
The Cummins never really did it for me though....

Always had quite a deep disdain for the Nova buses. Quality off the bat was always just so subpar.

I do really miss the electric whine of the E902 trolleys. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like we can ride one anytime soon as the drive parts were stolen from the bus in storage at the transit museum.

Terrible engine and transmission combo

Ride is super choppy due to the short wheel base.

Excessive rattling through out the entire bus.

Driver ergonomics is bad because the controls are both on the left side and upper side of the driver seat.

Blind spots in the front A pillars

Front doors are aligned behind your shoulder line, meaning when passengers board, you have to go full girl Exorcist mode to make eye contact with passengers.

Looks like it, I would think the tighter wheelbase is more designed for manoeuvrability than passenger comfort. With such large front and rear overhang it's basically a sea-saw.

I've yet to go on a double decker, being from Hong Kong it's just the norm but I want to see what it's like here.

That’s funny, I was on a patio a couple weeks ago when a double decker rolled by and I said to my wife that I’d like to hop on one day just for s&g’s. Her response was “have fun with that.” :lol

And 1000% on the sea-saw effect, while a New Flyer bus glides over speed bumps, Nova buses are the complete opposites.

The double deckers aren't too bad if it's cruising on the highway, once it gets into town doing local stops, it's border line hell depending on where you sit. All of the Decker's are equipped with the ZF transmission which means it's going to jerk, slip and bang into gears.

From what I've heard, when we had the double decker demonstrator, it was equipped with the Allison transmission and it was day and night in terms of drivability.

Also the Luminator flip dot destination signs were the coolest electronic signs. Especially the combo green LED/flip dot that was equipped on just a few of the articulated buses.

And from what I remember, the WV Blue Bus drivers seemed to hold out on some “old school” actions for longer, like open the front doors before the bus even stopped, and leave the curb before the door fully closed, even after when the CMBC drivers would eventually have to come to do these actions with the bus at a full stop

What models are the double deckers? My local route just got a new fleet of Dennis 500 and they're SO much more comfortable and quiet compared to the old one. Also the door swung inside, meaning a lot of wasted space next to the door during crowded times

Drier too - old ones didn't seal fully at the doors, so during a storm the entire floor would be soaked.. One time I had to take off my shoes because there was an inch of water on the floor of the bus LUL I have video of it somewhere I think

My experience is that chassis, cab, and drivetrain are all separate. You can have two cabs that look similar but are on different chassis, and they can all Lego in different drivetrains.

I’ve rode on the double deckers that go from Lougheed mall to the Surrey exchange, nothing special.

Not that I’m a public transit person and especially not a bus rider lol but our busses are so ghetto compared to other countries. Especially these longer haul ones. Plastic seats and shit. Recently rode some of the “longer haul” busses that connect cities in Ireland, still just cheap, regular, public transit, and they are more like comfortable motor coaches

plastic seats are kinda good for buses when your ride is under 30m or even a bit longer than that. i don't want 20 years of farts soaking up the seat im sitting on. if i take the bus i'm just grateful to get a seat at all that i'm as comfortable as can be.

At least with plastic or metal you can see if there's... liquid... I have definitely avoided sitting down on the MTR when there's a big streak of ass sweat running down the middle of the seat DansGame

We have the same models compared to your Hong Kong counter part.

It's considered as the super low model as it needs to fit going through the Massey Tunnel.

Upper deck headroom is 5'7", so you'll have to hunch over walking down the isle

Judging from visual cues I feel like ours are lower in height than say the HK KMB versions or the red London buses.

I had a slot car track but the cars were bigger than these, so they would actually drift in corners if you went just the right speed. One was a cop car with a siren and everything lol
