For my bus riding childhood, the 6V92TA was my top favourite engine growing up IIRC TransLink was getting $1000 per each scrapped D40(HF) but i was in grade 11 and I didn’t have a place to store a bus (still don’t) haha. Series 50 was so noisy I wasn’t too much of a fan during the time but now it’s so nostalgic. 8.5L 4-cyl turbo diesel what the. The Cummins never really did it for me though.... Always had quite a deep disdain for the Nova buses. Quality off the bat was always just so subpar. I do really miss the electric whine of the E902 trolleys. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like we can ride one anytime soon as the drive parts were stolen from the bus in storage at the transit museum. |

That’s funny, I was on a patio a couple weeks ago when a double decker rolled by and I said to my wife that I’d like to hop on one day just for s&g’s. Her response was “have fun with that.” :lol |

Also the Luminator flip dot destination signs were the coolest electronic signs. Especially the combo green LED/flip dot that was equipped on just a few of the articulated buses. And from what I remember, the WV Blue Bus drivers seemed to hold out on some “old school” actions for longer, like open the front doors before the bus even stopped, and leave the curb before the door fully closed, even after when the CMBC drivers would eventually have to come to do these actions with the bus at a full stop |

I’ve rode on the double deckers that go from Lougheed mall to the Surrey exchange, nothing special. Not that I’m a public transit person and especially not a bus rider lol but our busses are so ghetto compared to other countries. Especially these longer haul ones. Plastic seats and shit. Recently rode some of the “longer haul” busses that connect cities in Ireland, still just cheap, regular, public transit, and they are more like comfortable motor coaches |
plastic seats are kinda good for buses when your ride is under 30m or even a bit longer than that. i don't want 20 years of farts soaking up the seat im sitting on. if i take the bus i'm just grateful to get a seat at all that i'm as comfortable as can be. |
Yeah sitting on a fabric seat on the train in Japan during the summer is like :heckno: At least with plastic or metal you can see if there's... liquid... I have definitely avoided sitting down on the MTR when there's a big streak of ass sweat running down the middle of the seat DansGame |

Love this thread I had a slot car track but the cars were bigger than these, so they would actually drift in corners if you went just the right speed. One was a cop car with a siren and everything lol |
