Thank you to the school liaison RCMP police officer who sat me down and talked to me one on one when I was going down the wrong path.
Thank you to a member of the Vancouver Police for not issuing me a ticket with points, but instead one without. (No sarcasm)
Thank you to a member of the Washington State Troopers who let me off with a warning, and another for not writing me a 20 over ticket, but instead a 10.
Thank you to two RCMP officers who instead of giving me a ticket for front tint just told me to rip it off in front of them.
Thank you to four RCMP officers who caught me and two other friends up to no good but instead of getting us in further trouble (already in handcuffs at this point) you guys just gave us a lecture and let us go.
And last but not least huge thank you to sho_bc and skid mark for taking time out from their families and lives to answer some private questions I've had in the past. Some of them might've been stupid so I truly appreciate it and I mean it.
And thank you to all the other officers out there on the watch being the front line between us the citizens and the bad guys. I will gladly shove my steel toe boots up anyones ass who screams "fuck the police" for you guys. But maybe you guys can let me escape?

A little over a year ago, a few friends and I were taking some pics in the Aberdeen parking lot after hours. A Q7 was ripping it up and down pretty much all the floors, and police were called in to check it out. They stopped by us, and talked to us if we had seen or heard the car. They eventually began taking interest in our cars too, despite there being a couple that were probably VI worthy for being too low. One officer even asked me about my tail lights and how I got them on my car (late model MR2 on an early model).
Before they left, I jokingly asked if they can pull a car behind me and flash the lights for a picture. They actually obliged! The result is a cool pic, and one of my favourites haha.
Coolest officers ever |

Of my 9 years driving experience, I've only ever had ONE bad officer experience. He was looking to give me a ticket and kept pointing out OEM parts on my car and saying they were illegal (like bone stock oem tail lights and telling me they were aftermarket) which he wrote a bunch of fake warnings like dangerous left turn and no signal (we were driving straight loo, no turns)
Other than that, every single officer has been fantastic. From pulling me over for no reason other than to check out everything is okay (no drinking, no dangerous mods etc) to road blocks. Even when I've had to call the police for someone trying to break into my car and also one time when some kid was shooting a BB gun out of his car window. Each time professional an awesome.
Especially an officer of Richmond RCMP who owns an e36m3, he came an chatted with us for an extended period one time at ironwood Timmy's on a Thursday night. We got to ask him any question under the sun, and he even tested things like our exhaust DB by our request to see how they do it, and how our exhausts would read.
Nobody is perfect, but you get out what you put in. Treat officers with kindness and respect (as you should everybody anyways) and you will have a good experience. If you get hassled, well you probably deserved it.

Thank you, chick cop who I chatted up earlier at Edgefest for getting the other officer to uncuff me and get me out of the paddy wagon where that super hammered dude sitting across from me probably eventually threw up everywhere.

I have a lot of respect for police, I'd hate to be dealing with the negatives of society day in and day out - I couldn't do it.
I'll send a special thanks to the RCMP K9 officer who let me off an excessive with simply a verbal warning, as there was no one else on the road but the two of us. She told me to do something nice for someone that season (it was almost Christmas). So I donated $200 to the Women's Shelter and took the receipt to the RCMP detachment a week later and showed the officer. She gave me a big hug for making her day. Hey - she saved me thousands, it was the least I could do. I have now slowed down on my commute - lesson learned through empathy, not through domination.

All interactions that I have had to have either through getting pulled over, or because of idiot people I was with doing stupid shit like peeing in the middle of the road, have been pleasant.
I mean I obviously hate being hassled, but its not like they do it for no reason.
Never disputed a ticket, since I always knew what I was doing was wrong, and I got caught. Instead of wasting my time, I chocked it up to a lesson learned, or just the fact that I was bound to get caught once atleast.
The only time I was upset about a ticket was the texting one I got at the red light at willingdon. I think that ticketing people texting at red lights is just exacerbating the real problem of people texting while ACTUALLY driving.
Other than that, I have been asked to blow through a straw at a road block a few times (cause I DD a lot), and I always blow 0.0. Cop wishes me a good night and I am on my way. Countless times I have been thanked by officers for driving my wasted ass friends home, and have been told I am a good friend.
The officers in this city are great, and they do a pretty darn good job on the whole.

Thanks to the cop who let me off with a warning on my birthday ![Toot!](images/smilies/toot.gif) last December for speeding. First thing he asked when he came up to the window was:
"Why are you driving fast in a loud car with a gigantic sticker on the back that says SPEEDHUNTERS?"
Me:
I haven't driven fast since (due to a slipping clutch). Jokes aside...I've been well behaved ever since.

Thanks to the Richmond cop that pulled me over for not having insurance (reminder was in the mail, and I didn't check my mail in a while Lol).
He gave me 30 minutes to run across the street and renew. I wasn't able to renew since it was actually in my wife's name. So he towed me home and just a warning.
I thanked him on the spot for pulling me over, because a $600 ticket > uninsured accident at fault.

In highschool, on Halloween, 4 buddies and I bought about $500 worth of fireworks, each divided into a bag per person.
About halfway through, inevitably we get caught by the police.
Two officers ask us to dump out the bags on their hood, and they were amazed at how much we had - one took a picture lol.
They then gave us two options: we get tickets for $2xx each, or we drop there and do 50 pushups.
So there, in residential New Westminster, amongst hordes of children in costumes and their parents, were 5 guys sweating and struggling doing pushups in the middle of the street.
We thought it was rather pretty cool. They did take all our stash though |

Coming down the hill into Kelowna once on a work trip, cops had a stop set up by the visitors' center... my work van had a pretty badly spidered windshield, so naturally the cop pulled me aside and pointed it out, then asked for my license and registration.
Registration I found, but my license was nowhere to be seen... cop asked if I knew my BCDL#, but I didn't... then asked if I knew my SIN#, which I did; he also asked my name, address, etc. to confirm it all. At that point I figured out where my license was: a couple days earlier I'd been in to the local detachment to get a criminal record check done for volunteer work, had taken my license out for them to photocopy, and then put it back in the pocket of a coat that was at that moment, hanging in the closet at home.
I think the cop appreciated the irony of it, and was probably able to confirm my story, since all he gave me was a box 3 N&O and 15 days to get the window fixed. No fine, nothing for not having my license on me.
So thanks to that cop for having a sense of irony.
