There's a reason why we all loved him in Mrs. Doubtfire, for example. Yes he was creative and did funny things as her, but it was also the heart behind a father deeply wounded by having his happiness (children) taken away from him, and the real sadness he tapped into. We all understood that, as an audience, and we loved him for it. In many older talk show interviews you can see Robin was always "on"; meaning, he constantly had to entertain. It makes sense that that kind of behaviour is covering a deep wound or insecurity. As long as you're "on", and making people laugh, ie focusing outwards, you don't have to deal with your own anguish. He likely dealt with depression all his life. What really saddens me was that his last tweet was a #tbt photo of him holding his daughter, and wishing her a happy 25th birthday. It's angering to think that his own turmoil overcame his love and necessity to be there for his daughter. So sad. RIP. |
the pain you inflict on your family with suicide greatly outweighs any relief of suffering you gain. rip nevertheless. |
