This movie is so deep in so many ways. I also find it slightly ironic though... cuz it kinda revolved around the torturous afterlife of a suicide.

Even Nick Diaz is saddened by this

A joke:

Quote:

A man goes to see a doctor. Doctor asks what seems to be the trouble? The man says, "Doc, I'm depressed. My life is harsh and cruel. I feel all alone in a threatening world. I just can't feel 'happy.'"
The Doctor says, "I've got the perfect fix for you. In town tonight is the great clown Pagliacci. He's hysterically funny and will make you laugh til you cry. You will experience a joy unprecedented." The man bursts into tears. The doctor, confused, asks why. "Doc, I am Pagliacci."

RIP robin williams

RIP.

I believe this is very common. Peter Sellers, one of the best comedic actors of our time was equally profoundly depressed as he was talented. The only time he was ever happy was when he was in character, not himself, and entertaining others.

There's a reason why we all loved him in Mrs. Doubtfire, for example. Yes he was creative and did funny things as her, but it was also the heart behind a father deeply wounded by having his happiness (children) taken away from him, and the real sadness he tapped into. We all understood that, as an audience, and we loved him for it.

In many older talk show interviews you can see Robin was always "on"; meaning, he constantly had to entertain. It makes sense that that kind of behaviour is covering a deep wound or insecurity. As long as you're "on", and making people laugh, ie focusing outwards, you don't have to deal with your own anguish. He likely dealt with depression all his life.

What really saddens me was that his last tweet was a #tbt photo of him holding his daughter, and wishing her a happy 25th birthday. It's angering to think that his own turmoil overcame his love and necessity to be there for his daughter.

So sad. RIP.

the pain you inflict on your family with suicide greatly outweighs any relief of suffering you gain.

rip nevertheless.
