2014 Civic Si

Did a search but couldn't find any threads on it.

Looking to pick up a 2014 Civic Si sedan. Test drove it today and really liked it, overall a really nice package. Anyone have a 2013/2014 Si and can provide their opinion?

I'm trying to buy a new 4 door car that is fun to drive at $30k max and it has proven elusive until I drove the Si. Mazda 3 was good but lacked the power, Fiesta ST was a blast to drive but the crash safety is abysmal, Focus ST is out of my price range, likewise with the WRX.

apparently newer civics arent that fun to drive or something.

I know you said $30k max but you might wanna consider Lancer Ralliart?

It's an EVO with less power, without widebody, etc.

If you're getting an Si get a 2006-11 Si FA5/FG2.

LOL, buy my CSX-S; it's in the buy/sell forums. Yes, I know that was a shameless plug.

It's a sexy CSX-S. You guys should just work out a deal.

Mazdaspeed3?

Pretty fun, hella powerful (if you can get over the torque steer)
Lots of storage space

I had the opportunity to drive one, really like the car. Nice interior, good on gas, very nice manual gearbox and enough power to vtak around town daily. Only gripe is steering feels too light and clutch pedal also too light. When driving bit harder you get a noticable rev hang which was kinda annoying.

Overall really like the car and its a great value approx 30k all in with nav and everything.

assuming he wants to buy new, there is no current gen ms3.

I dont see why focus ST is too expensive, i configured one online within 2k of the civic. ford has employee pricing right now. Focus has way more power plus versatility of the hatchback, which i would gladly pay extra for.

you might even get a better deal on the 2014 since the 2015 is being released with only cosmetic improvements

also consider finance rates if you arent paying cash

I like the mazdas. A good friend of mine has an 07 mazda 3 and the new 2014 mazda 3. Drive really nice, no problems with them but I just don't like how the engine is so far forward? Any one else? Its like there is no crumple space and a front end hit would ruin your motor as opposed to the civics which have all the space up front

It is because the exhaust is towards the firewall.. it need the space to radiate the heat. Civic and Mazda are all about similar in terms of crumple space.

I'm going to +1 mazdaspeed 3.. but all the mazdaspeed 3's are driven to hell since so many people use them as dailys.

Liquid_o2 08-11-2014 10:25 PM

Yah would love a Mazdaspeed 3 but they don't have them new anymore, and my co-worker has one and drives it to hell. Wouldn't buy used. The new 3 with the 2.4L is nice, but only comes in automatic...

With the Focus ST, been to two Ford dealerships and both times they wouldn't budge below $33k pre-tax. That's with employee pricing too.

The Civic Si isn't perfect but seems to be a really solid package for a daily driver, my only gripe as LP700-4 said is that the steering is really light, wish it provided more weight and feedback. Powertrain is solid though, engine is still fun revving, great gearbox, tons of features that you don't see at that price range, and loads of storage space. And for 2014, they stiffened the chassis a lot compared to the 2012/2013's which supposedly has improved cornering quite a bit.

Gonna definitely give it some thought and weigh my options.

The 2015 Mazda3 2.5L comes with a manual tranny :)

If your interested in an FG2 Si you should take a look at mine :hotbaby:

civic si is a safe bet! for overall useability but i must warn you it gets boring fast. a friend has a 2013 civic Si he loves it, i drove it from burnaby to whistler just a few weeks ago and its very comfortable, lacks torque... i guess i am used to v8's and boosted rides. go test drive a Ralliart

It's an excellent car, but it pales in comparison to so many other cars around the same price. I will say though, that the transmission has typical Honda excellence, and there's plenty of power. It's a very refined car, almost too refined...

WOT!

i have owned numerous 2006+ hondas and Acuras (all Si or S model), and the transmissions are the worst part about the car. the engines are amazing, but the transmissions all suck!

the big 3 german manufacturers, now they have amazing transmissions.

i fear there hasn't been a true 8 year improvement from the 2006 to 2014 Civic Si, the 06 Si was an amazing car (except the transmission that would grind so often and had a soft feeling due to the weak connecting wires - a real design flaw, the 99/00 Si had a better transmission as it was connected with more hardcore hardware)
