Take the radiator cap OFF before you work on your cooling system
that was thursday night, helping with a friend with his automobile. 2 days later the 2 big blisters have become one, and theres 3 more huge ones in other spots. and this afternoon it started OOZING
i've worked in a few different shops and there's always someone who didn't know that shit is pressurized when it's hot! take the cap off before you start doing anything with hoses! spraying hot coolant everywhere isn't good for you and isn't good for the ladies
also, carefully pulling the hose back and pointing the spray away from you when "there's no need to take the cap off" is a bad idea, because someone might be working right beside you.

This is what happens when you take the cap off when it's pressurized and hot. No injuries as I used a rag to shield my hand. I outlined the blast zone.

This reminds me of a story my mechanics teacher told us back when I was in junior high.
Told us to never EVER open a rad cap when the car is hot, or even work on the cooling system in general, until the vehicle has cooled down. He had a great story to bring it home.
He told us about one day after work, he was getting gas, when he noticed some dude pull in, with his car obviously over heating. Drove over to the water/air station... He didn't think anything of it and continued filling his car. All of a sudden he heard screaming. He turned and saw that guy with the over heated car, had taken off his rad cap (presumably to fill it) and it blew hot coolant all over his hands and face. By the time the ambulance showed up, he had massive blisters all over his face and hands
Still gives me the chills just thinking about that. Yuck.
