This guy doesn’t mind the weather!

But we know you do, and so do we. The storm we are weathering is going to continue tomorrow. We anticipate that, as was the case today, no alpine lifts will be opening. Operations teams are working hard to protect runs from water damage and keep the ditches and creeks flowing.

Avalanche danger is very high and when the storm clears we will be hard at work to let you guys at the snow that is falling in the high elevations. Freezing levels are coming down and Whistler Blackcomb - Official Ski Resort Website - Whistler, BC, Canada will have all the info you need on current conditions including live webcams and current temps at a variety of elevations.

No Peak
No Harmony
No Symphony
No 7th
No Glacier
Maybe Crystal (but more like lolno)

So just a question for those that have been riding for many years.

Is this normal to have an "off-season" every few years or so?

Yes, but this is outrageous. Combined with last season, I'm worried. Our mild winters are very volatile and an increase in average temps even a degree could mean the end of the seasons as we know it.

Wasn't packed with people at all, we finished runs and immediately got right back on the chairlifts within 2 minutes. The chairlift rides are quite abit long. Around 2pm it got packed so we finished 1 last run and took off at 3. Absolutely loved it and plan on going back in a few weeks. It's worth the 2+ hour drive because it's in the middle of nowhere and the snow is great!

HA, it was sunny and dry all day. The forecast called for light drizzle but there was none at all, an absolutely perfect day for riding!

The chairlifts are only doubles and they're a little ghetto. Idgaf though, the mountain and snow make up for it.

Every time I scan my edge card to spend $100 at Whis, I think that for $40 I could have got an Asahidake ticket and ride lift serviced backcountry.

I want to go back. RS ski meetup 2015/16 Hokkaido?

After spending 3 weeks on the main island shredding this year I wont be going back to Hokkaido. Imagine more snow, steeper terrain and less people. Bits of Hakuba have Alaska style spines, couloir and bowls. It was kind of funny meeting a bunch of the local guides because most of them are from BC. They spend the beginning of their year in Hakuba and the end of the season towards April in AK.

For those of you that have been to Japan, what does a week there end up costing you all said and done?

Depends on a lot of factors but its cheaper than a ski holiday pretty much anywhere else. Lift passes are around 50 bucks. Accommodation can be had for as low as 50 per person per night. Food is cheap and super good. Your biggest expense is going to be flights but the winter months are the off season for Japan so they are on the cheaper side as well. I paid 940 for mine return.

So total could be 2-3k. Considering a long weekend in whistler could end up being $1000. Thats pretty fucking reasonable.

So if you are considering going to whistler, consider an adult circumcision or smashing your penis in a door instead. It's about the same on the enjoyabilty scale and will cost 125 dollars less.
