Did you ride Whistler today? I kind of wanted to go up but my girl wasn't interested lol. Glad I didn't now.

westopher 02-14-2015 02:00 PM

Took one run and left. It was nice hanging in whistler for last night and this morning so it's not a total loss, but seriously it was the worst conditions I have ever seen in my life. So many people freaking out demanding refunds at guest services.

Can I post my NWS ass bruise from today?
Also, first thing this morning, surprise; shale slope; and left hook were okay (as long as you didn't drop the cliffs on left hook.
Also also, they give refunds?!

I still have two edge passes to use

I got a day put back on my edge card, and they gave my wife and 2 buddies gift certificates for the full amount of the pass. We asked nicely and they were very nice at guest services about it. The guy beside me was losing his fucking mind and threatening them and screaming and he got his money back, but I didn't feel like making that kind of stink. The GCs are all good as they will get used. I still have 4 fucking days left on my edge card. If it wasn't bulletproof I would have been happy riding park, but I don't ride icy park. I can't afford to get hurt anymore.

Pray to your favourite god or gods. Chris Doyle tweeted some great news.

westopher 02-19-2015 09:50 AM

Too little too late. I'd rather it not snow here since there is no base to even make it ridable. Whistler might benefit, but it would suck if it got cold in the city.

meme405 02-19-2015 10:18 AM

Fuck that, it's too late. I just want summer now.

Think about how epic the bike park could be if all the snow is gone like a month and a half early...

westopher 02-19-2015 10:21 AM

Yep. Just gripped my new skate deck, and the best part is its not 125 bucks a day for me to go to the park.

TOS'd 02-19-2015 10:22 AM

Looking forward to (possibly some) snow in the city soon. :toot:

For day passes yes.

blkgsr 02-21-2015 09:49 AM

was going to head up tonight to use up some days on our edge cards....where's there to ski? upper alpine groomers??

AzNightmare 02-22-2015 03:39 AM

Season is done for me. I need the weather to get warmer so I can be more comfortable while working on my car in the garage...

Depends on a lot of factors but its cheaper than a ski holiday pretty much anywhere else. Lift passes are around 50 bucks. Accommodation can be had for as low as 50 per person per night. Food is cheap and super good. Your biggest expense is going to be flights but the winter months are the off season for Japan so they are on the cheaper side as well. I paid 940 for mine return.

That's pretty cheap, I'm debating pulling the $750 I pay for a seasons pass and putting that into a big trip like Japan next year. Since the clowns at the hill changed the day pass pricing system after selling the seasons passes (it now takes 11 days to pay it off vs 7 before) I'll barely pay off my pass this year and a bunch of those days I wouldn't have gone up if I didn't have a pass.

xeryusx 02-26-2015 08:08 PM

So just got back from whistler trip and wow. Boarding is fuckin exhilarating! I can't believe I haven't been doing it all this time! Definitely will be investing in some proper gear cos the rental up there sucked. Also sucks how expensive it is up there! Nonetheless, had the most fun I've ever had out in the snow.

Pegacorn 02-27-2015 11:57 AM

I need at least one good full day of snowboarding SOMEWHERE this season. Whistler? Big White? Sun Peaks? Who has the best conditions?

TOS'd 02-27-2015 12:47 PM

big white looks pretty promising right now

underscore 02-27-2015 01:04 PM

Big White was shit 2 weeks back, has it even snowed since then?

I know the feeling, I just picked up boarding this year after my friends told me to go for the past 2 years. I've had a blast every time that I've went and recently bought my own gear the last time I went up. Totally makes a difference having your own gear that's geared towards you :fuckyea:

xeryusx 02-27-2015 04:28 PM

It is a little discouraging that the season is almost over (I was told it ends around April?) and that all that Sportchek carries are sz XL+. So I guess I will have to wait until after summer to buy gear. But until then, I'll just watch these

Looks like I'll also be forced to invest in a GoPro...

TOS'd 02-28-2015 07:45 PM

From the Cypress FB page:

"The guns are out again tonight! Full snowmaking start up as of 630pm. Last night we made 3.3 football field with a foot of snow!"

Interesting, lol.

Only thing I can say is, make sure you're also willing to learn some video editing skills.
Otherwise you're going to end up having over 100gb of raw footage and not knowing what to do with it all...

Just saying. :okay:

xeryusx 03-01-2015 01:36 AM

Lol fair enough. I'm not really one to post and show off. I'd like to just be able to track my progress within the coming season.
