So do I just walk in the door and go "Where is the asian kid?"

Edit: I mean WEAR DA AZN KID AT

KDMofo 10-23-2014 02:26 PM

Pretty much, if you see a Genesis Coupe parked in the 20mins parking or handicap spot then I'm here.

Simplex123 10-23-2014 11:25 PM

Just realized Cypress has student prices this year. For a silver pass, student price is same as the group login price ($296). And with the group login, you can get a student silver pass for only $269. Was just gonna get a GMC, but I'd be dumb not to get a silver now

Vangruver 10-27-2014 07:49 PM

Got my pass this year,

Got a new pair of boots this year,

Got a free pair of goggles this year,

Got a new slide stick with some new binders this year,

Got a sweet schedule for work that has me finish everyday at 1530....

I ride solo, and have mainly ridden solo... You'll find new friends to slide snow with and chances are, you'll increase your skill level over your friends.

Nothing wrong with going up with a solid crew, but don't turn away fun sliding time if your friends don't go, just go and enjoy the ride!

Remember, there are no friends on a powder day ;)

meme405 10-27-2014 07:57 PM

It's true I always progressed so much more quickly by myself. There are times where friends can help with tips and such, but for me, just being able to hit the same thing over and over without thinking about something else was usually the biggest factor to stomping a trick.

I have no pass this year so I'm gonna be hitting wherever I feel like. I hope cypress has that air bag ready to go again, I'm hunting for that rodeo 5 this year. Grouse better also have a massive cut line like they did two years ago. That final 60 foot step down was outrageously fun, even if I was too chicken shit to do anything but straight air it.

westopher 10-27-2014 09:40 PM

I wouldn't even hit that big jump on the cut anymore. A few years ago sure, but I can't hack it anymore. I did hit a couple jumps in the black park last year though. They are similar sizes, but built so much better. The park builders in the city are not what they used to be. As for the progression, my best friend and I really push each other, and we grew up riding with his older brother who is amazing and actually has a few full page shots in snowboard canada. I find I only get better when I ride with people better than me. Keeps me pushing to be at their level.

underscore 10-28-2014 02:11 PM

IMO you'll always progress the fastest riding with people who are better than you, you're more inclined to push when you're distracted by having to keep up than if you're just at a "comfortable" pace with people at the same skill level as you.

Vangruver 10-29-2014 07:51 AM

Its true, not denying that what so ever, but when you've progressed quicker than your close friends care to, one tends to want to venture out and seek other means for excitement.

When I say I ride solo, it truly doesn't mean that, simply because I usually find others that are usually out as well, and there are times when either party will tag along with one another.

So I guess I ride solo initially, then wind up making new friends. *shrug*

meme405 10-29-2014 09:39 AM

I think I ride differently then you guys.

My all mountain level is at a point where I can competently ride with pretty much anyone. i'm not struggling to keep up with anyone.

When I talk about progression I am pretty much solely talking about learning and stomping tricks. In which case other people have pretty little to do, its all about balls, and the practice time to throw it a hundred times before you stick it 50% of the time.

I'm by no means a park rat either. It's just where most of my progression happens these days.

Mostly during the day. She does wear glasses but also have contact. Last time I check she was waring her contacts when snowboarding.

Fucking tempting Niseko & Surrounding Resorts | 8 or 15 day package

westopher 11-03-2014 12:29 PM

Yep, want to so fucking bad. All my friends are broke, or suck at snowboarding though. Its one or the other.

underscore 11-03-2014 12:56 PM

All my friends are just plain broke, it's really starting to piss me off since I have limited time to do shit like this in my life. With flights it would land around $2k, but I'd want to spend a few more days on either end to explore Japan if I'm flying that far.

LYC 11-03-2014 01:02 PM

Do it! Those resorts in that package are all sick. Rusutsu recently built a sort of ultranatural area in the resort where it has like man made log rides and pillows that all land into steep pow. The backside of Teine is like pillow heaven. Literally pillows for days.

GabAlmighty 11-03-2014 01:19 PM

Can't wait to shred some pow this year. Time is almost upon us.

white rocket 11-03-2014 02:39 PM

I haven't been following but does it look like it's going to be decent this year? It still seems quite warm out now so I'm wondering if will be another bust :(

westopher 11-03-2014 02:56 PM

I wouldn't be too worried. Its pretty unlikely it will start off as shit as last year. There has already been more precipitation this year at this time than last it seems. I'm heading to whistler Dec 5th and 6th. Hopefully its decent.

LYC 11-03-2014 02:59 PM

Few days ago in the Whistler alpine. Looks pretty epic to me.
