Was up in whistler over the weekend, pretty good conditions at the top. 7th Heaven was bomb, forgot how amazing the view was! Downside was the line for 7th Heaven, everyone was trying to get up top. Everything below was a little choppy and icy

I was half tempted to rip down to Whistler until I saw that line, yuck.

Big White was horrible yesterday, what little snow is up that has become solid ice. It was a decent warmup for the season at least, I forgot just how damn heavy my skis are though. Right now I'm on 2004 K2 Seth Pistols with bindings that I hate, I still love my K2's but I'm being very tempted by some of the new rocker tech coming out. Does it really make that much of a difference, ie is rocker as big of a jump as shaped skis or fat skis were? Or is it more of an "ehh it's nice to have"?

Yeah that line up was a good 30min. There were a couple birds that kept flying around the line up, I'm guessing to look for food. They landed on people's helmets and ski poles. My buddy put his hand up and got one to land on his hand lol

Test fit my new bindings, Rome 390 bosses are meant to be toecap but on my boots I'm not too sure if they'll stay on the toecap under all the pressure and forces bombing down a hill lol. Maybe my boots have an abnormally large front, Burton Moto. Also aware some mixing and matching boots/bindings dont always work out well.

NKC ONE 12-14-2014 11:55 PM

Can anyone school me on these rocker boards? Haven't been boarding for over 7 years now ever since I moved back to HK and I'm in need of new gear for this season.

I've also heard that boots are freakin amazing now too ie Nike with Lunarlon. Any new development in bindings?

I have rome 390s. You just need to adjust the toe strap. They work very well on the toe. Not that great over.

I've got a strongly double camber-rocker (the mustache shape) splitboard for touring. The amount of low speed float compared to traditionally cambered or flat boards I've been on is other-worldly.

westopher 12-15-2014 09:59 AM

Agreed. I would never go back to a cambered board after riding a hybrid camber board. Especially spinning into pow. I can land shit SO much easier. No more tomahawks over the nose, at least not every single time.....

yeah burton boots are relatively fat and wide compared to other brands. If you were at the end of the size range you probably need a size up for the toe cap for fit

TOS'd 12-15-2014 11:41 AM

I got the L/XL bindings, I think my boot may be a US 9 or US 10, will have to check and adjust when I get home from work.

westopher 12-15-2014 12:47 PM

I 100% guarantee the bindings will work with the toecap. I'll even adjust it for you so it works if need be. The toecap is the best thing to happen to bindings since the highback. I actually can't bear to think of someone having those bindings and not reaping all the benefits of how awesome they are.

The stupid part is how long it took for the toe cap to be invented, the toe strap was basically dead weight before.

TOS'd 12-15-2014 11:08 PM

Toe strap pinches my boot and toe on my old bindings from 2009.

ancient_510 12-16-2014 07:33 AM

Going to Cypress today to ride on rocks and shit.

Pegacorn 12-16-2014 10:58 AM

Those pics of Cypress are depressing. My season pass is crying.

Anyone order their new edge card to be mailed to their house? How long did it take to arrive? It's been a month since I ordered and no sign of it in the mail.

westopher 12-16-2014 12:19 PM

Mine took like 3.5 weeks. No idea why it was so fucking long. I imagine its even worse now due to the christmas mail influx.
Anyone see the forecast for whistler? Looks promising. Maybe heading up monday if it actually happens.

TOS'd 12-16-2014 12:21 PM

Thanks for the update westopher, hopefully its just the influx mail causing the delay.

I had gotten mines in the mail approx. two weeks after i ordered it. This was in November.

AzNightmare 12-16-2014 09:35 PM

Spent like $800 on full gear in 2013 when I started snowboarding... Season's seem to get shorter and shorter each year. Maybe I picked up the wrong sport.

Got mine for like a month. Called them in the 3rd week asking the status and some retarded customer service rep told me that it had been mailed out and it was on its way. Fourth week still haven't received it, called whistler again, the lady said that my card had never been printed. Apparently the first fuckin jackass cs rep lied, should've asked for his name.
