Vitamix Thinking about seriously getting one (like the next gen model for its smaller counter space requirements). Will use for smoothies and perhaps other things like soups. Hoping it motivates me to cook more at home and eat better. Any vitamix owners want to share experiences? What's considered a good deal for one of these? |
I don't own one but my girlfriend does and it's awesome! I always have a blast making green juice/smoothies cause it's so easy and it blends really well. If you want something more compact, cheap and does the job I would recommend a Nutribullet. Bought one the other day and it's pretty good. |
You're probably looking at spending $600. I saw one once for $500 on sale at a Costco in the U.S. but that was a while back. I was considering one so I did a bunch of research, read reviews, watched side-by-side comparisons, asked around, and ended up buying an Oster Versa for half the price. It's apparently comparible to the Vitamix and it comes with a 7 year warranty. I've used it every day for months and it's still kicking ass. I've made smoothies, dips, and ice cream with it. It can do anything a Vitamix can do. I got mine at Costco for $300. Given that you want the new smaller Vitamix, maybe you wouldn't like the Versa, but it's a sturdy beast! http://www.costco.ca/Oster%C2%AE-Ver...100127786.html |
The shopping channel had this on yesterday for $560 including shipping and all and it was on easy pay 44/mo. saw the demo at Pne and it was impressive. it was this one, $560 was the show stopper price.. http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/Vi...450,E:11755175 |
My gf and her mother use theirs religiously and are actually on their second unit now, not because the first one was crappy or anything, but because they use theirs several times a day, it was justifiable to spend a bit, I mean, a lot extra for a higher model. Worth every penny to them. I use it sometimes too for fun. I even made icing sugar, lol. When the dollar was closer to parity, it was worth it to make the trek down to and buy it at Costco or wherever but now I'm not so sure. |
Just go get a blendtech. That's what I have. Extremely comparable to the vitamix but only 359.99 at costxo |

I see $479.99 for blentec at costco. |
What costco are you shopping at? I work at costco and it's only 359.99 |
got mine down in costco in the states too lol I like the look of my gf's blendtec more though |
The only two brands that I would consider are vitamix and waring. |
It was a tossup between the Blendtec and the Oster Versa for me when I decided Vitamix was too expensive. Versa has a heavy, sturdy base, which was important to me. I spent an absurd amount of time watching Blendtec vs Versa vs Vitamix videos to see which did the things I do the most, best. I recommend doing the same. It's a lot of money to throw down on a blender, but if you use it constantly like I do it's a worthwhile investment. $300 is definitely easier to swallow than $600, though, so Blendtec and Oster Versa are probably a good bet. This lady made a bunch of comparison vides of the Vitamix, Versa, and Blendtec: |

Which waring do you have? I have the Waring MX1000XT, this thing is a fucking beast |
I have an old school Vitamix inherited from the inlaws - looks 80's and is still badass. Used pretty much daily. |

ahh yes. Waring's competition for the Vitamix. |
I use to use a Versa and now a Blendtec, I love them both! Versa is definitely comparable to the Blendtec and Vitamix (cousin has one and we compared). If you have space between your cabinets and counter get the Versa and save the money, I only switched to the Blendtec because it's shorter. |
I bought mine over a year ago from the states for like 429.99 It's an amazing product, I make shakes, sorbets, smoothies, etc everyweek |
got my vitamix from Costco last year. Took some convincing from the fiancée but we decided to splurge and get one. We've been making smoothies almost every day since and I can honestly say I feel waaay better, physically, now that I am getting my daily dose of veggies. There is no comparison. This machine is a beast. You always hear people say "oh its just as good as the vitamix" or "it does the same thing". Theres a reason why everyone compares their blender to the vitamix. It is the industry standard. |
I have no comparison with any of the other big names, but I got my Vitamix from Costco online when they had the sale last year, and have used it almost every day. This has been a phenomenal purchase, unlike my kitchen aid stand mixer that sits on the counter and is a great conversation piece, but only has been used like once every month, or less. |

Have this one at home and its great. Highly recommend if you are using it for more than smoothies and soups. I don't know about others, but the self cleaning feature is nice too. https://www.vitamix.ca/shop/Professi...es-750-ca.aspx |
