When you coming back? Can I drive your GT3? Does this mean you will become anti-pipeline when you cross the Alberta/B.C. border?

Chode? I hope you’re not referring to my well used boy-pussy?

Well it’s certainly a possibility, I know I’ll regret selling it.

Cycling? You'll enjoy downtown Vancouver just fine then :lawl:

twitchyzero 05-27-2018 04:59 PM

doesn't diminishing returns apply to so many things
should've just chosen a flashier-coloured GT4 if you liked the way it drove but simply want more presence

Vultures are already circling. Hope you come to your senses and banish thoughts of selling.

Correct me if im wrong but if you are an Alberta resident and you move to BC, you don't pay the PST and the communist 20% luxury tax right?

I think for you, a 911 4S or GTS will be perfect.

VR6GTI 05-27-2018 06:39 PM

Should probably buy an ITR imo

TouringTeg 05-27-2018 07:28 PM

This thread should be a sticky. One of my favourite threads. First 10 pages are about drivers' cars and the last ten are Marco911 and Z3guy having it out!

Z3guy your 996 GT3 was awesome. Funny how we all like the cars that are the most enjoyable but not necessarily the fastest around the track. A PDK 991 will get you the lap time if that is what you are after.

So many thoughts. So many questions.

You seem to suffer from car ADD worse than Tofu. :D Three ITR. Sold them all! They are one of the cheapest and most fun street and track cars you can get. They are still undervalued IMO. When this thread started in 2014 I didn't have one yet. In fact I bought mine without even driving it. Owned it for a month before insuring it and was immediately impressed with the fun factor.

Cayman GT4. Owned one and now you want again. 100% agree with twitchyzero that a PTS GT4 would be just the ticket.

The 2010 M3 6MT is a great all around daily but I understand how it can be a drain on finances and time to have too many fun cars. It becomes work.

Btw I drove Jason's original 997 GT3 in Edmonton. It is exactly as he said. An amazing car but you can get yourself into trouble very quickly on the street. That said it is a superb car that I still dream about!

I have a feeling you might find driving and cars more enjoyable if you didn't move directly between massively congested cities that are just giant grids. Move to Osoyoos and get a membership to Area 27, then you can rip down backroads anytime you want and still make yourself infertile by mangling your taint while wearing spandex.

prudz 05-28-2018 08:33 AM

Read this thread for the first time and lol'd at "I've probably owned more cars than TOFO"

lmao

Also I can relate to what you are saying about traffic. It's tough to enjoy driving a car in Vancouver. I've basically given up and started just riding motorcycles in the mountains and pedal bikes in the city. So much less stress biking through neighborhoods not having every bad driver nearly crashing into you and your car.

Truer words have yet to be spoken.
I am no longer a fan of driving in the lower mainland. Places that used to be wide open are now full of high density "homes", while the country roads that I grew up with are now congested with the brain dead proletariat.

I'd rather be in a truck these days. Something with some height, good tires, a good stereo, and the ability to roll over situations if they arise. Which is sad, because I am still a car guy deep down.

More pix of bike :D

It's interesting to see the natural progression from car modding to cycling, where the obsession with carbon fibre and wheels never go away.

Down size the collection. Keep the GT3 RS, with perhaps the possibility of switching to a 991 version down the road, sell off the M3 and R8 and just bike everywhere when you come back to the YVR. Easy button. I love the distinction between the fan base(real enthusiasts vs. fake baller buddy guy) and I can only imagine how accurate that is even without owning either car. Haha.

I hear you on all fronts about the pangs of owning fast cars with nowhere to really enjoy them. So why own more than one? Hard pressed to get something better than a 997 GT3 RS as a weekend fun car so just keep that one and drive it when time permits knowing that it maintains or increases value. I'm sure your GF can carpool with you in her Corolla so there you go

Downtown lifestyle requires sacrifices and since you are already a road biker you have already adapted nicely to what it takes to live downtown. Hit up the Cars and Coffee at Jericho Beach to get your fix of car guy shit and hit up The Ridge for some fun. Outside of that, taint your chode on that fucking hipster bike and live life on easy street :)

bomberR17 05-28-2018 10:28 AM

What about renting a garage to store the cars. How much does it cost to rent a garage?

TouringTeg 05-28-2018 11:38 AM

I would rather have one awesome weekend car and bike/transit. I am lucky to have a company provided SUV. It's great not worrying about door dings, parking, congestion, theft etc. Then on the weekend you pick your route and destination.

Manic mentioned living on the island and Victoria has become a great place to own a fun car. Cars and Coffee somewhere nearly every weekend. AutoX at Western Speedway is $35. Other autoX events with Porsche and Corvette club available. VIMC lapping days or become a member. Plenty of twisty back roads are 15-30 mins away

Garage space too. I rent my garage spot for $150 per month in Victoria (prob more in GVRD). I lucked out when I bought a few years ago. 15 mins from DT Victoria, 5 garage spots, and enough space for another 10 cars If I wanted to piss off my neighbours. Lower insurance and fuel costs and overall lower cost of living.

That being said everybody stay on the lower mainland so it doesn't get too crazy here. :wiggle:

Manic! 05-28-2018 12:51 PM

Nanaimo is only a 15 minute plane ride away from downtown Vancouver. You could park your cars in Nanaimo and fly down and enjoy them on the weekend. Vancouver Island motorsport association is building a drag strip in campbell river and have plans to make it a full motorsports park with a race track.

tofu1413 05-28-2018 02:59 PM

I think you need a consultation of what to own meeting with a bunch of us once you're back in YVR... :lawl:

ae101 05-29-2018 09:00 AM

Jasonturbo should do a seminar on how to be successful lol, then open with by saying "hey u know what, I've got a problem? I can't decide if I should keep my gt3 rs or traded it for something else? Annnnnnnd now that could be your problem too if u wanna be successful just like me"

That can even be a great title for a book too lol

yray 05-29-2018 09:31 AM

Jasonturbo can get a urus now with the pipeline back on track.

teggy604 05-29-2018 09:49 AM

Keep GT3RS sell the rest. Buy a motorbike.
