For me, ice is the most important thing because sliding through ice = accident, whereas getting stuck in slush is moreso just annoying (and getting stuck in deep snow would be entirely on me for messing around).
But for the excellent price on the Continentals, tbh I would've been fine if it was even in the same league as the X-Ice Snow / Blizzak WS-90, which it seems to be! | Thanks, yeah looks like its pretty close. I found a recent ConsumerReports on tires, here's the results. Even though the Michelin is rated higher, seems like on a category basis the Conti's actually are equal or ranked higher (Hydroplaning and ride).
Given the rain in Vancouver, I think having better Hydroplane performance is a plus. Might pull the trigger on the Conti's instead then!

The X-Ice Snow, Viking Contact 7 and the WS90 basically trade around the top 3 places in each category, they are all very good winter tires. I ran the X-Ice Snow since my Pirelli PZero Winters got a puncture and have been happy with them in town and up to Whistler/Cypress etc. This season hopefully I will get to take them ice racing and see how they do on a frozen lake.

I finally put my order in, full winter setup for Tesla Model Y
Wheels, Conti Viking 7's 235/55/18, and bluetooth TPMS
$1971 all in
A lot cheaper compared to Quattro Tires, and local pricing

Does the Bluetooth TPMS work with the car''s original TPMS system or would it only work with a phone app on the side?

So, is it on trend to get Continental Viking Contact 7s for winters now?
Michelin Cross Climate 2s have fallen out of favour. Badhobz fainted.

CROSS CLIMATE 2's are always the answer. no hassle, no fuss. Keep them on year-round for your dailies and enjoy my wife's angry eyebrows
if this bitch can do it, im sure your so called SUVs can do it... winter fucking tires my ass, dont make me laugh.

EDIT: Specifically for Tesla if using OEM Tesla Bluetooth TPMS. I can't speak about other bluetooth sensors.

For Vancouver, unless you drive up to Whister in the winter, I would just run a UHP All Season like the Pilot Sport A/S4 or DWS06+
I was running the older DWS06 back in the winter dump of 2016 and I was going up/down the hills in New West without issues.

Speaking of Conti DWS 06+, they are on sale now at TireRack. Comes to ~20% cheaper than what you'd pay at KalTire.

If you are shipping the tires to a mail depot, there is still the depot fee. I also haven't factored in the WA tax. It is just the TR website price converted into Canadian dollars.

For the folks that recently purchased Continental tires, supposedly there's a $100 rebate available according to RFD https://www.continentaltirerewards.ca/#/home
Follow the link and input your information, doesn't hurt to try.

NO! DO NOT GET KUM HOE HA32
It looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but this shit is not a duck.
but to be fair I had it on RWD sedan... had to put 80 pounds of dumbbells in the trunk to get out of neighborhood slush.

Is anyone just appalled at how often cars are still running winters in the summer? I feel like it's 1 in every 30-40 cars. Cars with X-Ice and Blizzaks etc just casually rolling around in 25+ deg weather. Feels like Acura604 should be going around doing tire changes for them.
