^ yah, I can see that being hella annoying. If you want to follow the 10 yr rule then technically, one tire should be replaced before the other 3 but of course, you'd want to replace all 4 at once. I think that difference of 2 yrs between the tires is too much and unacceptable.

I’d take $600 for them. I’ve had so many flakers on FB.

"Hi are these still available? What's your best price? No, your best price?"

I managed to sell a bunch of stuff last week over the internal board at work, and that was a totally different experience. People who replied would actually buy your shit, barring something like a bike geometry not turning out to be correct for them. And then make an offer close to or at asking price, or if not, then actually going to the trouble of citing data supporting why they thought it was worth a different amount.

I guess that's the difference when you know where they work, down to their desk location, and could look up their manager :lol.

Someone's spouse who had tagged along - who turned out to work at Rivian - even offered me an employee discount if I get another one!

Badhobz 10-06-2024 05:48 AM

That’s cool. Much better than the typical fecesbook scum.

I wish we had that at work. Instead all we have are these social committees run by bimbos who keeps asking for donations every month.

I told you Sarah, I don’t wanna give meals to seniors. Seniors suck! No, I don’t wanna support the autistic dolphins fund either. Or your senior horses against the glue factory initiative

Ok hell yeah I'm down.
I'll shoot you a message tomorrow and hash out a time to meet

Finally got around to checking the date codes on these new Viking 7s: all mid-2022. I guess I still can't complain for the price. Esp if the rebate comes through :D.

I'm happy to report that my rebate came in the mail.

Cracked open the mail to find a $100 prepaid Visa card :awwyeah:

So for anyone that applied for the rebate during the time I posted about it, you will definitely get it.

EDIT:

September 19th was when I posted about the rebate being available, almost one month from submitting the application to actually receiving the mail for it. Not bad in terms of timing.

coneZONE 10-11-2024 04:31 AM

I bought my tires last minute to submit for the 27th Sep summer rebate deadline, turns out they have another rebate for the winter, starting from the 28th Sep haha

Also turns out General Tire has sort of the same thing going on, except it’s $50 instead

radeonboy 10-11-2024 04:55 PM

I forget if it was in this thread or another thread, but I recall someone mentioning a tire place near Richmond Home Depot that does reasonably-priced tire swaps? I'm looking to put my winter tires on some off-vehicle rims.

Badhobz 10-11-2024 05:47 PM

I took my ratrolla to Aria and he did it for like 130 bucks. Great guy!

whitev70r 10-11-2024 06:56 PM

Rudy Tire on Byrn Road ... pay cash and it's $100 to mount and balance 4 tires on wheels.

That was me... Aria does a good job too... but if it's 40/45+ sidewall the guy behind Home Depot is super cheap 2691 Viscount Way... need to make an appt tho I think, his name is Calvin his# is 6o47246566 he usually charges me $60 cash but I dunno if it's my friend rate or not so best to ask him haha feel free to throw my name out there (Chris with MR2/Supra)

Paid 140 cash about 6 months ago here but they were 19s

whitev70r 10-12-2024 12:16 PM

Yah, $100 cash for 18's.
For switchovers, if you have separate set of tires/wheels for winter, $40.

Say, do most of you do the road force balance when mounting tires? Is this a gimmick or a good thing to do. I mean I've never had any issues with traditional mount and balance.

Badhobz 10-21-2024 06:29 AM

Pssshhh I gave myself 100 bucks for NOT buying winter tires or even cross climate 2s for the hitlerbox. Summers till I go spinning backwards into a Tesla uber.

Let’s grrrowwww

First, shameless plug. Craigslist is dead and I don’t have Facebook, someone here buy my set of virtually new studs with wheels

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rch...792916166.html

Got my new studless winters for the echo (Mazzini snow leopards or something). Dirt cheap 14” but they feel amazing, fresh DOT. Installed with some 1” wheel spacers but haven’t had time to toss the oem shocks back in.

Then also got in my new studded tires for the focus RS in 235/40r18. Should fit nicely on another set of wheels I have. Nankang something whatever’s but great price and also super fresh DOT. Should work well for ice racing

Since I am also on the Conti Viking boat now, I'm selling my old General Altimax Arctic on FB. Crazy how much demand there is, I was happy to just get maybe like $100 for them, so originally listed for $160.

I got a ton of messages and so increased it up to $300 and I'm still getting ppl wanting to meet ASAP.

I bought them 7 years ago and while they have have a ton of tread left (8/32 approx) they're DOT like mid-late 2015 yet still so much demand. Crazy.

roastpuff 10-27-2024 07:44 PM

People may not be cognizant of DOT dates and how old a tire should be, they just see good tread and are happy to pay.

68style 10-27-2024 09:07 PM

Honestly in places like BC where the climate is so mild, if the tires were kept indoors the date thing is such a bunch of bunk.

Everyday drivers aren't pushing 10/10ths in their cars ever.

Badhobz 10-28-2024 04:49 AM

Especially snow tire .. I mean show tire… I mean snow tire people

I think that a winter tire is more likely to require 10/10ths performance than performance tires for a regular person, actually - especially for braking and cornering. Joe Schmoe is more likely to hit the traction limit of that winter tire braking down a steep icy hill vs Randy Racer with his PS4S on a nice summer day. That extra bit could be the difference between a controlled stop, or hitting another car.

A 2015 production tire will be less flexible, less grippy and less durable overall than say, a 2022 production tire, thanks to the rubber hardening and aging, and it is a noticeable difference.
