Just put them on some TE37 and you'll be fine. |

Big difference going to the Crossclimate 2 / X-Ice Snow. Except for the XIce 3 tho - those blow dicks in the slush |

What slush are you guys trying to prevent here ? The one week out of the year ?! :troll: Just run summers until you crash into a tree then just stay home. |

I feel like red kryptonite can get away without winters at all given that (I think) he lives on the island where it snows/rains even less than YVR. I guess low temps can damage summers though |
Summers are pretty dicey in cold weather - the compound hardens and the car loses grip quicker around turns (even at cul de sacs). Plus the tires get worn out faster and I think ICBC might not cover you in an accident. I went through a winter on summers in the past when I was younger - I would not do that again. |

Examples of tires that would be good for this: X-Ice North 4 (studded or not studded) https://shiny-diski.com.ua/media/fil...ce_north_4.jpg Nokian Hakkapellittaa R5 https://mb.cision.com/Public/10563/3..._800x800ar.png Continental IceContact XTRM https://media.hagerty.com/media/wp-c...-2048x1536.jpg |
Review: Continental IceContact XTRM Winter Tire - a write-up on the Continental IceContract XTRM which is a CDM only tire, and quite an interesting option as it comes in pre-studded and non-studded versions. Relevant paragraph about slush: "....a V-shape tread pattern with more open lateral grooves than on some other winter tires, to account for Canada’s slushy roads." Directional tire also helps, I think, which is why we're seeing more such patterns vs asymmetrical tread patterns these days. EDIT: Forgot to respond to the packed ice (glare ice? black ice?) part of the question. Yeah, beyond studs it's going to suck even with a high end snow tire. Compound and tread pattern can only do so much, though the old X-Ice 3 was quite good at actual ice (though bad in slush and deep snow hilariously). I've found Blizzaks (while new and still having the magic compound section) and Hakka R series to be good on actual ice too. |

even with AWD the pss4 struggles in the rain/cold. on a slight uphill, applying very little throttle the traction lights comes on and the tires just spins. |

Is this the first non Michelin winter tire to have a tread life warranty? 128k almost doubled the 60k in X-ice Snow |
Just bought 2 sets of all weathers. No more swapping for this guy.. now I gotta sell some accord rims. |

^ The other brands have supposed to have caught up, and CC3 should be coming in the next year or so. |
Did you say….. CROSS CLIMATE 3 ?!?!?!?!?!? I just came…. |
They're going to be X3 as ugly. |

BUT in Vancouver, CC2 probably reigns supreme because of the giant voids for slush evacuation. My exp with the Nokian all weathers is they’re better in snow than CC2 but blow in the wet. Even then, I've gotten stuck in the wet slushy snow with open diff FWD. |
all this effort to get snow tires, I doubt we will get snow this year. :okay: |

Someone said Blizzaks isn't great for wet tire performance.. this is very accurate. I almost died 8 times to/from the mechanics on Hwy 99/17/1. The roads are FLOODED and man it's just grip the wheel and pray lol. (also wtf is up with idiots sitting in the left lane pacing a semi truck.. its like they love getting waterboarded. Get past the truck and move over, you'll be able to see that way) Anyway, I went to get my brother's tires mounted. He bought Kumho Wintercraft Ice Wi31 from QuattroTires for $380.90 shipped, steelies for $40, and I got it installed for $75. Sub $500, not bad. Summer set will be used Conti ECS on the stockies, $275 installed. All in price for $771 for two sets. CC2 would have been $1080 installed. Plus I'm still very doubtful that CC2 would be able to climb the hills I live around. I'm much happier with him having proper winter tires. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...61c6e238ed.jpg |
