It's suddenly gotten quite warm, 10C in the already even in late morning. There was a forecasted arctic outflow this week which didn't happen and I'm wondering if I should put the all season back on the SUV.

Both my parents and in-laws needed new tires and I was hoping the CC2 would come back into stock before the tariffs hit but that ship has now sailed. Probably going to get the Nokian WRG5 or Nordman Soltisce (a rebranded WRG4) for them instead from Kal Tire.
Anyone using an all weather that's not a CC2? Curious to see how you like your non-CC2 all weather. Looking for something budget friendly as neither sets of parents drive very much.

Looking for something budget friendly as neither sets of parents drive very much. | I recommended WRG4 to a coworker (Prius C) and she loves the tires. She says it's a big upgrade from her stock tires and loves not slipping in winter and dealing with another set of tires.

Bridgestone weatherpeak from Costco? It's on a family car, so I don't drive on them myself, but the car isn't all crashed up, so I guess it's good enough.

General Altimax 365AW is also a good budget AW alternative.

It seems to do decently against the WRG5 ( https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre-Tes...res-Tested.htm) in most areas except for dry performance. And Costco has $100 off on it right now and that makes them about $200 cheaper than the Nordman (a tire that is probably worse than the Bridgestone). Thanks for getting me to take a closer look.

For the two sizes I'm looking for they're both US made. Neither sets of parents are in a rush to swap as their summer tires are only 6 years old (the winters are 10 years old) so I could wait it out till next winter and maybe Trump has died of a heart attack by then and the tariffs are lifted by...JD Vance (LOL, Jesus Christ)

I don't believe JD Vance knows what he's doing, or at least he just comes across as Trump's attack dog. No Trump then there's no orders and he might just sit idly.
But back on topic, I didn't know we made tires here in Canada lol. I typically haven't checked where tires are made, and colour me surprised when I bought DWS06 from US a few years ago and didn't get duty on it.

I see: Romania, Portugal, Czech Republic, Germany, US, Brazil, and France on the list. Some of the sizes even list 3 different countries - handling tariffs on those could eventually get really interesting. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec....lus&isSEO=true

Problem with most all weather tires is they blow in the wet.
CC2 best overall cuz it's good in slush and wet
WRG5 sacrificies some dry/wet to be best in snow.
Toyo Celsius Sport, General AW365, and Vredestein are underrated; very good performance.
The rest are just also rans.
Terrible in wet and sloppy in dry. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=336
General AltiMAX 365 AW (Grand Touring All-Season, 215/55R17 94V SL)
What We Liked: It's pretty good in the wet and reasonable on the road.
What We'd Improve: The balance of traction to steering response could be tweaked.
Summary: Reasonable in most respects, but not exceptional in any of them.
Bridgestone WeatherPeak (Grand Touring All-Season, 215/55R17 94V SL)
What We Liked: Pleasant on the road and reasonably quiet.
What We'd Improve: It badly needs more traction in wet and dry conditions.
Michelin CrossClimate2 (Grand Touring All-Season , 215/55R17 94V SL)
What We Liked: A nice, composed ride with strong performance, whether wet or dry.
What We'd Improve: Lateral traction could use some attention.
Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive (Grand Touring All-Season, 215/55R17 94V SL)
What We Liked: A refined and comfortable experience with excellent noise suppression and precise handling.
What We'd Improve: We'd like more lateral traction in the wet and a bit more predictability in the dry.
Toyo Celsius Sport (Grand Touring All-Season, 215/55R17 98V XL)
What We Liked: Plenty of easy-to-use, well-balanced traction combined with some energetic steering.
What We'd Improve: Some additional refinement on the road as long as it doesn't sacrifice performance.
Summary: One of our favorite wet and dry performers in this test in pretty much every respect.
Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ (Grand Touring All-Season, 215/55R17 98W XL)
What We Liked: Excellent manners on the street, with top-tier wet traction.
What We'd Improve: Some adjustments to its sensitivity at the limit would help.
