I scored a set of basically new Vredestein Hypertrac for my model 3 in the fall last year, have to say, they are way better than the stock Michelins, the wet performance is unreal lolol....

Summer like weather predicted by end of week.

Who's still go their winters on? I still do and I probably won't get to it till next week - gotta go fix my lawn first.

I still have winters on both my cars. I have been meaning to do the X5, but something about deadlifting 70lbs out of the corner of the garage and trying to get them on in half an hour doesn't sound too appealing to me. Will wait until I have a bit more time so I don't end up rushing and hurting myself.

You guys are lucky. There's was freezing rain up until yesterday here in the GTA and temperatures still forecasted in the negatives for weeks to come.

Yeah, this spring I was thinking of putting the car up on the jacks and deep cleaning the whole underbody as part of the swap too. Along with my twice annual paint deep clean it becomes a day long activity. Might have to put that off and just do the swap itself first.

Still have winters on. I still only drive in the mid morning and late evening, so it's around 10* when I drive. Did a S2S run last night, feels pretty good tho, even on winters LOL

I think I saw you yesterday. You look fine with the winters hahaha

My problem is it's 70lbs PER REAR WHEEL, the those chonkers are 315 wide on 21x11

The M3 isn't quite ready because the summers are 200tw track tires

Sounds like you need to practice deadlifts....

JKJK

Get a wheel hanger pin - it screws in and lets you basically hang the wheel off it while aligning the bolt holes. $3 on Ali/Temu.

How high are you guys jacking up the car or do u guys have a lift?
I jack it up just enough for the wheel to come off/on. Line up the wheel on the ground, sit on my ass, then it’s a 1” lift onto the hub.

I’ve avoided buying an impact wrench for 20+ years but I think it’s finally time.

Jack the car up just enough to get the wheels off, roll the wheel onto your feet like a ramp, and it will be bang on.

What the hell are you guys doing lifting it 16 feet in the air

I'm only doing 2-3 inches off the ground, enough clearance to easily slide the wheel on. Hanger pin makes it super easy.

Didn't you know, trollface? Everyone here on Revscene has a four post lift in their garage.

Re: Hanger pins make wheel changes on Euro cars SO much easier.

A socket adapter for a drill is a good option if you don't want to buy an impact. You still crack it loose with a bar but then you can just zip them off and on.

All my wheels are reps so they're heavy AF.

Im jacked.

Buy a stolen M18 impact off Craigslist for 70 bucks, it will change your life. Just don't start a nut or bolt with it.

I keep it in the trunk at all times. When someone road rages me, I follow them to their destination and the impact comes out. I leave all their wheels holding on with 4 threads so it causes maximum carnage when it lets go at speed.

I'm a bit overly cautious and still use the breaker bar to crack the bolts loose before zipping them off. Some people don't care, but on a 20+ year old car that sees the track, umm, yeah. I'm going to play it safe.

And LOL @ meme lifting the BBS wheel.

I never thought of that, but it'd probably be a good idea on a 30 year old car that gets sent down forestry roads.

I think the freezing rain was bad outside of the general GTA. Have you ever walked or driven on real frozen rain? That stuff is worse than black ice!

Dont run your winters on backwards, when you do that the tread and the heat will actually create snow.

https://www.caranddriver.com/car-acc...weather-tires/

Car and Driver teamed up with Tire Rack to test North American all weather tires. Pirelli wins this round. The Goodyear they tested was the older version and the newer one would likely have come 1st or 2nd. The big news is that there are lots of great options now in all weather tires - you don't have to get the eyebrow tires.
