it's pretty accurate

they shipped steelies to my place within 5 business days
they had the winter tires ready for pick up at the warehouse a couple days after that

lol they initially just left one steelie outside my door one evening, then left the remaining three the next morning

boibuddha 10-17-2017 12:25 PM

It is pretty accurate, but you risk having a longer wait time the longer you put off ordering it.

I ordered the WS80s in an oddball size (185/55/15) about a couple of weeks ago. It took about a week to come in and they got mounted to my loose wheels the day after I dropped them off.

There's an asterisk beside it, but I can't find any "fine print" related to that *.

Better not be something like, during busy winter season, winter tires can be backlogged 2 months, etc.

I was at richmond costco this morning talking to their manager Jason. The poor guy's made appointments but some of the tires havent arrived yet. Michelin and bridgestone's arent shipping within the normal commitment time and these guys are just swamped with orders. He's unloading like 1000 more tomorrow... CRAZY!!! :ahwow:

Just put on Hercules Ironman Polar Trax tires, picked them up from National Tire in Surrey. Driving to Saskatoon in November so I'll let you know how they hold up.

you guys are grossly underpaid for the amount of work and volume you have to do. Plus you gotta deal with all the a-mo's who dont speak a lick of english and want shit done to their cars. I had to help translate for this old chinese couple this morning as there was no Johnny available.

fliptuner 10-17-2017 02:40 PM

Is Johnny a name used to refer to someone who has to translate for mainlanders? Legitimately curious.

320icar 10-17-2017 03:32 PM

LOL no he’s one of our sales staff. Speaks mandarin/canto and legit saves us. Not sure what we’d do without him (I guess we’d have to hire badhobz)

Priced matched at KalTires, $720 all in including balance and install for Blizzak WS80. 225/65/17 for CR-V
I find Costco has the best price for Blizzak, with extra 5% discount from KalTires for price matching and $70 rebates (which costco doesn't have).
I don't mind getting them done and pay a little more for install ($8 difference per tire install compared to Costco) at Kaltires thats literally 2 minutes away from me.

LOL, I thought about doing that. Costco sounds insanely busy. I also have a Kal Tire coupon.
I asked Kal Tire yesterday about WS80's cause they don't carry them (on their site), and they told me wait time for delivery in is 2 months... I don't think I can wait that long... I'm expecting to switch to winter tires in about a month. When did you order yours?

And isn't the Rebate a manufacturer rebate? Can't you still get your rebate even if you bought at Costco?

twitchyzero 10-17-2017 04:52 PM

costco applies the discount on the spot
i guess you could waste a stamp to see if you can double-dip...will probably get rejected

AzNightmare 10-17-2017 05:06 PM

Specifically, the blizzaks's don't have any instant savings listed at Costco. They do seem surprisingly cheap though... But if they don't have any instant savings, then technically it's not double dipping?? :considered:

The Bridgestone rebate specifically excludes Costco - read the fine print.

Costco did have the $70 off bridgestones and it was an instant rebate but i believe promo expired a week or two ago

Mid-Nov they told me that tires would be here.
I ordered today, but i'm in no rush as im not going to big white till the new year.
Costco is excluded from the rebate currently but someone said it could come back again later this year.

fliptuner 10-18-2017 09:38 AM

Fuck that. I'm going to use that term now. Hahaha

At a restaurant...

"Do you guys have a Johnny around here? I thing he's asking if it's spicy.... or if it has peanuts."

Correct. I grabbed a set of Blizzak DM-V2's just before the promo expired.

AzNightmare 10-18-2017 10:39 AM

Canadian Tire has Blizzak WS80. None of the locations have it in stock though, so I guess you have to buy online. Cost a bit more than Costco, but rebate is valid here.

Anyone bought tires from there recently? Is it a gongshow there too?

Acura604 10-18-2017 10:45 AM

GET THOSE TIRES READY....if you're procrastinating....better be ready to wait in lineups out the yin yang ! once that first snow hits and the C'lais' smash up their old mercedes, you can bet they'll all rush to tire stores.

Got my steelies but still waiting for the tires to arrive at Costco :okay:

mb_ 10-18-2017 11:05 AM

Didn't see anyone mention it but check with your preferred dealership as well. Some of you would be surprised that their pricing is pretty competitive with Costco, Kal Tire, etc as well.

I just talked to KalTire and apparently they said they won't price match any tires that they don't carry... since the WS80's have to be custom ordered in. :yuno:

Also, any sale prices are only cause the rebate has been applied already. (I initially thought I was getting a good deal, lol)

Acura604 10-18-2017 11:27 AM

for those buying USED winter tires.. .DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE!!!! measure the tread.... put a toonie into the grooves and if the tread comes up to the bears paw...you're good... if its along the silver and doesnt' hit the gold part... SKIP!!! GET them inspected at a tire shop for nails, holes, damage... DONT TRUST YOUR LIVES to some slut selling junk tires!!!

or just buy a tread guage... 8/32 MIN if you're buying used... anything lower may not function well in snow.

DON'T BE THIS MOTHERFUCKER: (guy from last season who hit me on granville running 50% tread all seasons on a rav4 AWD)
