disappointing that the XI-2 has such bad reviews...but it'll be my first winter with them ON... replaced the blizzak DM-V1s with them.

Let me know how you like the XI-2's. I'm still running 10 yr old DM-V1's. They still have 8/32's of tread left, but they are getting nosier so it may be time to replace them.

The main reason I didn't stud mine is because I ran them year round, and studs only help on certain types of ice anyways.

That's a pretty common sight on the road to/from the ski hill too, almost all the vehicles stuck in the ditch are trucks or AWD cars. Normally I like to help people out but if someone stuffed it because they were running on bald mud/all season tires I don't waste my time pulling them out anymore. Better they stay in the ditch until the majority of the traffic has cleared anyways, that way they're a risk to fewer people the rest of the way home.

them being winter wheels it didnt matter to me how they turned out SO i used them to experiment on.

First, clean the crap out of them... the wheels were looking bad.. really worn out and stuff...

so.. once i cleaned them, dried them..

plastidip white - 3 layers
plastidip glossifer - 3 layers

... and to try and prevent them from getting too dirty this winter...

Dupli-color gloss wheel clearcoat - 3 layers - the clearcoat removed the sticky rubbery feel of plastidip and now its super smooth to the touch.

Again, i wont be peeling it off so it doesnt' matter to me if it'll be hard to peel.. i just wanna see how this combo of white wheels holds up through winter.

OMFG! Took my EV to Costco to get snow tires and steelies put on the vehicle. The tires are staggered. Fronts are 145 an rears 175. Guess what? They put the rears on the front. Good thing another customer pointed it out. I was just talking to him about the two different sizes. He told me I better go talk to the installers about the mix up. One of the installers told me, “uh, sir, you cannot rotate these tires.” Good thing the place has windows between the install bay and waiting area. I get it. People can’t know all the details about every model of car. They were discussing the fact that the wheel was wobbly. The hub sizes are different, too.

Car Made in Japan, rims Made in Japan, and tires Made in Japan. All’s good.

Made in Japan. VIN pretty much gives it away. Rear wheel drive. Not 100% sure but most electric cars are RWD, unless it has two or more motors.

The leaf is fwd.

Pretty sure the Golf and Fiat's are also fwd.

Really depends on the platform the car is based off of.

Anyone have Nokia Norman wg?? Pretty cheap tires but not sure how they would be for dedicated winters. I have a set of all seasons already.

I ran them in Ontario for a couple seasons. They've got pretty good performance compared to mid range snow tires.

Would highly suggest an actual set of winters if you've already got all seasons tho.

The Nordman WRs are for those on a budget running 1 set of tires.

I own two EV's and both are RWD, so in my little world, that's most, gulolol. Good thing I said, "not 100% sure."

I wouldn't say they're bad... but they do seem to have some trouble in slush.

They're great on light snow, wet, and dry pavement.

Though steering accuracy was worse than the Primacy MXM4 that came stock on the RDX, I swear the XI-2 were quieter.

I didn't know they had bad reviews... The newer Xi3 are one of the best winter tires available, so unless there is some huge drastic differences between the Xi2 and Xi3.

I believe those are the same tires. "Latitude X-Ice Xi2" is the full name.

From what I understood, the Latitude X-Ice Xi2 has now been designated for large SUV's and trucks, while the Xi3 is designated for light SUV's and passenger cars.

Xi3 replaces the Xi2, but the Latitude Xi2 stays for larger sizes. Maybe to do with sidewall strength/flex properties???

I have Latitude Xi2's on the Ridgeline and it's very good in the snow. Quiet ride and very stable. I have new Xi3's on my Outlander and so far it's been stellar. Can't wait until snow, ice, and slush before I get all exited about them.

anybody else gonna be swapping over this long weekend?

I'm looking at the 14 day trend and looks like we'll be in single digit highs starting this week.
