VikingContact7's are on. Even with the narrower tread, at least there's curb guard from the 50 profile sidewall.

Swapped mine over today with the aforementioned 18” and the Ice-X3’s:

Went up in size for winters? That's certainly not the norm. Lookin good though

Hondaracer 10-24-2020 03:52 PM

Yea, guy I bought from off CL had the oem 18” coupe rims with X-ice3’s so went that route as opposed to steelies etc. Those rims are going for $250+ each from wreckers so worked out pretty good imo

Bought a brand new set of these and had them mounted/installed today as well

Ended up ordering the Westlake sw606, which should be more than good enough for the RS. I didn’t much care for the pilot alpin I had previously (great on road but crap on snow/ice). On the SVT last year we had Hankook ipike which were amazing, and these look like copies of that. So here’s hoping

I ran these a few years back, definitely will serve you no problems, they're definitely the loudest winter I've ever experienced.

Anyone have experience with Kumho wp72? newer tire and can't find too much online about it, there's some reviews about its known predecessor the wp71 which wasn't too favorable but has a way different tread pattern

Only when you swap back next week, and the week after when it gets cold again, and then back. :ilied:

Forecast for next week is like 12C - I decided not to swap this week, will give it a few more weeks. This happens every year, we get a week of real cold which then reverts to normal before it gets there for the season. I generally like my snow tires better and try not to drive on them in warm double digit temperatures to keep them happy so will wait a couple more weeks before swapping.

I usually use NOAA for general long-term temperature/precipitation trends and have found it to be reasonably accurate. Certainly much better than others.

https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

Current trend for end of October/beginning of November is probable to be above seasonal temperatures, seasonal-to-above-seasonal precipitation.

AzNightmare 10-26-2020 09:20 AM

I wait until I see consistent temps dropping below 7°C.
Forecast looks like it's gonna rain a lot the next 2 weeks and still in the double digits.

Where do you guys buy your winter tires now, when most of us bought them from discount tire or tire rack in the states and we used to pick them up in the border (since they were cheaper in the States).

So where do you guys buy new tires now?

twitchyzero 11-01-2020 11:49 PM

find best price online then price match at kaltire

If Costco has them they're my first choice followed by 1010 Tires which has the broadest selection and the lowest prices.

underscore 11-02-2020 06:33 AM

Costco or PMCTire. They're in Quebec so no PST since they don't have a store in BC

Hondaracer 11-02-2020 06:42 AM

my dad was recently doing some research for my sister and when Canadian Tire has that 4 for 3 deal, it's usually $100 cheaper than the same tire at Costco even with the gift cards they throw in etc.

If you want to deal with CT that is

roastpuff 11-02-2020 07:41 AM

Blackcircles.ca, Quattro Tires, PMCTire - otherwise Costco or Kal locally.

You can get surprise deals from CT, went in to order GT Altimax Artic and ended up with conti wintercontact si+ for same price, mounted + install same day

underscore 11-02-2020 12:08 PM

Just watch for their pricing when they do the install, they like to charge extra for stuff like nitrogen filling (which does nothing).

Does anyone know if Costco tire centre sells 12x1.5 lug nuts for steel rims? Need to get new lug nuts.

320icar 11-07-2020 05:43 PM

You’ll have to call your local warehouse. They’re suppose to keep a basic stock on hand, but they’re nothing but a hassle so some managers don’t bother.

320icar 11-09-2020 11:44 AM
