i got a feeling this year it might be worse. This summer is unseasonably long and i got a feeling that this winter will also be intense.

I’ll take it. Give me nice weather for a long run and big snowfall winters for a good snowboard season and the billion dollars it costs to live here will all be worth it.

BTW the order procurement service Costco uses (Day & Ross) is fucking atrocious.

^agreed.
i think day ross sent over 2 tires to the warehouse like 2 weeks before the other ones arrived, and then when you go into the costco booking appointment website it wouldnt let you book an appointment for the week of because the 2nd set didnt arrive yet.
total gong show. i ended up clicking on the date when the original 2 tires arrived and then the costco website allowed me to book an appointment the same week.

Before you guys all switch to CC2s and run just one set of tires year round I have a set of tire bags that I no longer need that someone can have for free. They're slightly nicer than these ones and in good shape: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/c...p.html?loc=plp
It's size L and fits my 255/45/20 tire. DM me if you want it.
(Also have foldable tire racks too, never been opened, will sell for cheap to any member of the RS beatdown crew)

Swapped my winters on last night as wife's complaining that the forecast shows raining today.
Just checked current temperature... sunny and 17 degrees

Put the C2's on the GLI, I dunno why people say they don't like the tread look?
I like it on the GLI, makes it look more aggressive with the black rims.

^I'm liking them a lot actually.
I haven't spun out once yet! Looking forward to driving them in the rain here more to test them out, but I notice a big difference in grip here. Can't wait to try them on the mountain this year.
The ride is a little bumpier but that's expected with the beefy tread.
My buddy visited last night and he just put them on his Model S.

"Storm Train" to slam northwest into November. Mostly rain at lower elevations though.

Anyone have thoughts on Hakkapeliitta R3/R5 tread wear for use in the lower mainland? I'd prefer X-ice for use here but no stock.
They're the only ones currently available with my funky size. That or Dunlop Winter Maxx 2's which are even more expensive so I'm leaning towards the Hakkas or the lower tier Nordman 7 which is the same price as well.

The Hakkas will be soft and squishy, and wear fast when it's warm. Kind of like Blizzaks IMO, especially with a heavy car (I don't know what you have).

Within the GVRD, are Nokians sold exclusively by Kal Tire? (I'm not including online retailers.) If yes, we had a very bad experience for my father-in-law's car when we got him the Nokian's at the Kal-Tire on Boundary Road. It took them 2.5 hours to swap the tires on a Toyota Yaris. The invoice was pre-paid before we returned to Toronto and they still wanted to charge him again for the tires.

^I always thought Nokians were a Kal Tire exclusive for brick & mortar sales.
I've used Kal Tire at the Richmond location and generally had a good experience with seasonal tire swaps - usually in and out within the hour. One time they dropped my wheel on the face and they covered the cost of the repair.
Much better than crappy tire. I got my winters installed there today (I found some winters on clearance) and realized after I left that they scuffed the leather on my steering wheel |

It's a YMMV thing depending on which location you go to - the one at Ontario and Marine has always been good to me, as has the one at 1st and Boundary.

Not fully related. Looking to drive to Edmonton at the end of this week. Using my 4Runner with falken wildpeaks. I have tire chains and will be grabbing some kitty litter. Any recommendation on routes to take? Looking to do it over 3 days because I’m travelling with my 4 month old and want the safest trip and don’t mind adding a little bit of time.
