Popped my winter tires on today. Pirelli PZero Winters... we'll see how they do. New set, got them mounted at the end of the season in March earlier this year. First impressions, there's a low growl at highway speeds, not bad but you can hear it if you listen for it. Definitely feels a little squirmier than the PA4s I had, but then again these are full tread vs. nearly gone PA4s (hence the swap).

For anyone whose eyebrows make like the CrossClimate's tread pattern, take a look at how all weather tires are all seemingly converging on that same tread pattern. Just a couple holdouts now but everyone is copying Michelin.

update:

So went to costco to put on my new x-ice snows. asked costco to put the blizzaks in the trunk (so I could sell them per RS advice).

once car was ready, I noticed the trunk was empty. costco threw my blizzaks out by mistake. lol.

has anyone has this happen to them before? the installer accidentally throws out your old tires?

can't make this stuff up.

When I bought my winters there last year I had to emphasize that I'm keeping my summers after the tire swap - got the impression that they were going to throw my tires out. This was at the Richmond location.

im waiting for 320i to chime in, but im 99% sure they can make it right for you (might be better this way, since you didnt even have to sell them llololololol). Either they'll give you some money to go away, or refund you some $$ for the tires you bought.

I mean these were blizzaks with 70% tread life and I have a dealership report from a week ago to verify the tread life. So I'm expecting to be compensated accordingly.

Absolutely. Skip the tire shop manager if you have to and go straight to a duty manager or warehouse manager. A new set of blizzaks is what… online shows $210 each for your size, plus tax and 5 dollar levy, minus 30% for the amount you used. So they owe you $675

If you’re not satisfied, write a letter to head office. They’re connected to the willingdon warehouse

I haven’t been in the tire shop for years now. Tired of people in Richmond ordering 18” tires online for their 22” Land Rovers and screaming at us… because THEY ordered the wrong tire. Seriously… people in society are horrible.

I would lodge a complaint. I don't think you are getting your tires back but a largish gift voucher would be an amicable resolution. You can easily spend a few hundo at costco

It would have been better for your wallet and wifey's dinner had they not located it ... by 320icar's estimate of $675... don't think you'll get that on CL or FB Marketplace.

Reject their offer and say you have no confidence in the tires after they have been unaccounted for possibly with a 3rd party.

Nope. These aren't them.

That's said, how often does the recycler pick up, that his tires were off the premises by the time he picked up his car. Fishy as hell.

All the recyclers I've dealt with, go straight to the concrete plant, grinder or wherever they take them. Doubtful anyone would retrieve them if they got picked up.

I can’t speak specifics, but we’ve had tires over the years get wrongly taken, or given to the recyclers when they were return items etc. wherever they take them, there is a window of time where we can get them back.

I did see the tire recycler's truck parked in front of the service bays when I arrived for my appointment. So later on, when the guy told me the tires were gone and the recyclers just left with them, he wasn't lying. He seemed confident they could still get them back, so I asked him right away whether my tires are now sitting in a pile of thousands of other tires and impossible to locate. He said they are probably still on the truck, and if we call them right now, since your tires are relatively easy to spot, we can probably get them back. And I think that's exactly what happened. So they phoned the tire recyclers quick enough, who were able to spot the tires at the time the truck was unloaded. The tires were put aside and will be dropped off at costco the next time the tire recyclers come for a pickup, which I believe is today or tomorrow.

I understand that mistakes happen. I don't want to make a big deal about it. That being said, perhaps a small token of appreciation like a $50 gift card to costco for the inconvenience of me having to go back to pick them up would go a long way (at least that's what I'd do for our customers in my line of business).

update: Costco called back. Said the tires are gone gone.

(I think someone at the tire recycler spotted them and nabbed them for themselves)

So my offer to them was $500 cash, or a brand new set of Blizzaks. He's going to talk to the manager and get back to me.

Costco tried to pull the same thing with my 70% tread tires a few weeks back when I had my C2's installed, Willingdon location.

Funny thing is, I even told the tech guy to save my tires prior to them getting installed.

I happed to luck out because I decided to grab a hot dog and hangout in the parking lot while they were being installed, so I saw immediately when they finished up on my car.

Popped the trunk and the tires weren't there, went straight back to the garage and had a tech bag and roll them out for me.

I have no doubt that if I wasn't around those tires would've been gone.

Deal done. $550 cash for the tires. I'm good with it. Happy they resolved it.
