Forget about winter tires. I wanna re-insure the summer car and head out for drives!

(Apparently we're going back to non-stop rain for the next week or so, starting tomorrow though... )

Got a weeks use out of my winter tires lol.

I recall winter usually comes back in Feb shortly before you can slap summers back on. Any major downside if I keep winters on when temperature stays between 6C to 14C?

Just unenjoyable driving experience more than anything. Premature wear to an extent, but not gonna be a big deal.

I just put my stupid winters on.. I ain’t changing them this soon lol..

Btw.. anyone familiar with tires.. when sitting in storage one of my tires lost quite a bit of air, like down to 10psi or so.. was kinda worried but filled it back up and then put them on. Overnight that same tire went flat. Figured fuck sakes a puncture etc?

When I filled it back up I could hear the valve stem leaking. Not the stem itself but the little pin within the stem.. I tightened it with a tool but if I check the psi or fill it and that little pin whatever you call it, is pushed in a certain way, it will leak air

If I put my ear down to it I can hear it hissing out and by using my finger nail I can kinda push it and stop it from leaking. Is this the valve stem itself or just that inner portion? Ie. can I replace it myself does the tire need to come off

Might be going up to Kelowna in mid-April. I know you are supposed to have winters on until April 30 on the Coq Hwy and Okanogan Connector. How much of a risk is it to drive an Outback on all seasons during that time period?

Crystal ball question. The coq can go from perfect to undrivable in a matter of an hour. Last year in that time frame you definitely could have been stuck.

If you have winters on the daily, then definitely keep them on. You bought them and have them installed already - might as well get use out of it.

This way it extends your summers and maybe even enable you to do some hooligan shit on it in good weather. Otherwise your winters are probably gonna go bad before you even get 50k km on them lol

If Acura604 hasn't taken come in and told us he took his winters off yet, you know it's still too early to consider

All seasons tend to age quite well, but winters (just like track tires) tend to age out after a few years. I don’t understand why people are so frugal with their snow tire usage. They’re getting less good whether they’re sitting in your shed or on your car. Use them!

Also it was 2-3° on my drive home tonight in Richmond. I’ll happily keep my winters on

I'm pretty locked into a late-Nov till late March cycle - my winters work nice in dry conditions so I don't mind running them longer. I drive so little that they're going to age out before they wear out too.

What do you people use to gauge that tires are too old? Years on the manufacturing date? Cracking?

Years - depending on who you ask tires shouldn't be used past 6-10 years of age. 10 years seems to be considered the absolute max even if stored and used properly.

Let's be serious people - firstly, let's examine my tire situation:

1. I work from home
2. Girlfriend lives 7mins from me and her car has winter tires although I'm removing them also this sunday
3. I have plenty of condoms and viagra at home
4. Uber eats delivers
5. Thank you 'global warming'
6. eventually yes we will have a crazy rough winter...but this is not the year for that.
7. I'm rarely driving past midnight with low temps

.... .... SPRING has arrived.

I feel like I may be in the minority but I don't think I can tell the any drastic difference between my winters vs summers in wet or dry conditions lol. The tires puts the power down either way when I floor it or take turns quick

What are your summer tires? My Indy500's are like ice skates when it touches 5 degrees.

Winters are lofty as hell, the whole car rolls over like a cloud.

Come to autocross lol. Because I’m exceptionally lazy I’ve been running the winter tires on the focus RS for slush series this year. It’s been raining the events anyways so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but the difference between the summers and winters when pushed to the edge is insane.

I agree though that on the street in 90% of conditions the performance is very similar
