looking for a Welsh Corgi Hey guys, im looking for help trying to find a Corgi. I want to buy one and ive seen an old post about someone purchasing one across the border for way cheaper than what it would cost here in lower mainland. If anyone can point me to the right direction that would be great. |
i recently purchased a puppy back in May this year However though my search took around 6 months or so Most listed breeders in BC have all retired your only option is either Calgary or in Seattle that is within reasonable distance I had no luck in Calgary as all the litters of puppies had over 1 year wait list you may contact them from here: Pembroke Welsh Corgi Breeders | Pembroke Welsh Corgi Assn. (Canada) Instead of waiting 1 year I decided to start looking down south in Seattle the list of breeders are here: PWCCA - Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, Inc. - Breeder Referral what I recommend is calling all the breeders on the list to see who has a litter of puppies for sale or upcoming litters of puppies be prepared to be interviewed as these breeders are quite strict on who are eligible to purchase a puppy (most puppies are $800-$1000usd) however though, there are some breeders that are not listed on the site but you can be referred to them by the breeders on the list which is what happened to me bringing the puppy over the border is the easier than expected, you just need to show documentation of how much you paid and proof of rabies shot then you are good to go have you decided what color you want your corgi to be? |
great information kchan! really appreciate that. I havent really decided on the color because finding one in the first place is hard enough. If i had to make a choice though i want a light brown color. |

Good luck on your search. My route was pretty much the same as Kchans. There was a breeder up north in Quesnel, however I'm not sure if they still exist. We didn't want to wait a year, so we got our dog at the Metrotown Pet store because they had the exact color that my gf wanted. It was expensive, but nothing else was available. Good luck |

forgot to mention, when you do contact the breeders make sure that they have certificates for the parents of the puppy that their hips (Hip Dysplasia), elbows, and eyes have been tested and certified one of the most important would be if they are DM tested (Degenerative Myelopathy) the problem with purchasing puppies from backyard breeders or pet stores is you lack these information as they cant provide it to you |
