The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V teasers just began rolling out today, and already someone has spoiled the surprise. Photos of the upcoming performance coupe recently leaked all over the web. Though we've seen the car uncovered before in spy shots, now we get to see it in nice, even studio lighting.
We last saw the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe posing for a photo shoot outdoors, and the car in these photos wears the same wide front valance opening, front grille with air slit, and power-bulge hood with carbon fiber air extractors. We also see the same dark wheels, split five-spoke wheels, quad-tip exhaust, and rear ducktail spoiler. The tires appear to be Michelin Pilot Super Sports, which will be welcome considering other outlets are reporting the ATS-V will get the Cadillac CTS Vsport's twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 tuned to 450 hp.
The photos look promising, and if reports of the ATS-V's output are true, the BMW M4 could have something to sweat over. We'll get more details and photos of the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V when it debuts next week at the L.A. auto show. Until then, enjoy these photos
Shame it won't have an LT1 under the hood. I know the benefits of FI 6 or 4-cyl engines nowadays outweigh the benefits of larger displacement NA engines, but these cars won't ever have that feel of an NA V8 or produce the same sound.
It's the same reason I'd rather take an RC F over any of these new boosted V6 engined two door performance coupes.

It will be interesting to see what they price the ATS-V at.
Of course, ATS-V vs M4 is no contest (M4 wins), but I wouldn't be surprised if they price it very close to the 335 or S4. It's hard to ignore that value proposition.
It's similar to what Caddy did for the CTS-V vs M5.
GM always undercuts the European competition in pricing.
The ATS was intended to target the 3 series and did a pretty damn good job with it. That said, Caddy and BMW have 2 different audiences altogether. Neither group would cross shop.
The ATS-V could cost half the price of the M4 and the M4 would still probably sell more units.
The average V buyer cares more for 0-60 & 1/4 mile times than the complete package.
Will definitely be 10-20k (if not more) less than an m4. While I agree the m4 is pretty hard to compete with, I wouldn't knock the ATS-V until you have driven both.

Will you ever get a realistic review though? Every mag will fanboi out just like all of us do. Its pretty "in" right now to pick the american car over the european car just because the Z28 on race tires put down similar times around 1 track as a 911 turbo on street tires (yes I know the Z28 is incredible, but the test I'm talking about everyone remembers and they really stretched the truth to get people hyped.) On the other hand, M car fanbois (lots of reviewers and mags) "know" that nothing can ever beat an M car ever, for anything, at anything, and if they can, they are too "boring, numb and riddled with driver aids." We will just be reading a bunch of opinion pieces. My opinion piece involves the caddy looking like a 2 door version of a modded aztek
I cant imagine this:
compared to this, on aesthetics alone.

^ that was actually pretty badass aztec showcar with an LS1 and six speed
cadillac has shown steady improvement. they dont make excuses anymore the ATS is same price as 3 series, most mags say it has best handling of entry luxury cars. I expect ats-v will be similar price to M4 and give it a good run.
biggest advantage for me is cadillac will probably depreciate into my price range much sooner

Actually the 911 they tested didn't have street tires. Porsche pulled a quick one on motortrend and threw track tires on to the car before it was handed over to them.
As for the caddy looking like a modded Aztek, I want some of whatever the hell you're smoking..

hah thats funny about the porsche if its true. Its like one big circle of lies in that test. As for the caddy to aztek, its a stretch, but they clearly are from the same design idea of take a chisel to a brick and throw some wheels on it.
