IMAX Bluray vs Regular Bluray what is the difference? is one better quality than the other as for torrents of each, IMAX is 28gig(average) vs bluray 10gig(average) |
IMAX would be a higher res (larger format) source, supposed to keep a higher image quality when downsampled to 1080p than mastering from 35mm to 1080p IMAX vs regular 35mm film: http://www.flixist.com/ul/212249-ima...-size-620x.jpg But practically, I wouldn't think it's worth the extra 18 gigs in download size. (You'd probably barely notice the difference) |
The difference of an IMAX bluray and the regular Bluray is during the aspect ratio changes in the theatre, you get the use of your full screen vs having black bars at the top and bottom here for example http://cfs13.tistory.com/image/34/ti.../4929926f1a774 the top picture is the scene on the regular blu-ray and the bottom picture is the scene from the imax blu-ray (although this particular pic is talking about the colour differences from pirated releases) oh here another pic showing the same (without the colour issues) http://trekcore.com/blog/wp-content/.../08/imax10.jpg mind you only the scenes in Imax Aspect Ratios will be full screen and those that aren't will have black bars too |
generally if a movie had few scenes shot in IMAX....all it's home release versions will feature it. I dont think I've seen ones that went out of its way to exclude them. You'll know when you're watching imax scenes when the black bars suddenly disappears |
